Yeah but you said it's hero specific in terms of ranges where the cd gets triggered. I'm confused.

Creep aggro has 500 area of effect, lasts for 2 seconds, and a 2 second cooldown for each hero.

Oh. I somehow thought it's about the guy being attacked, not individual attackers. Disregard, carry on~

why isn't Alch used in competitive games? because of no escape mechanism?

He can amass a lot of gold but to actually do anything with it he really needs all slots filled. In the current age of group upland push or mass ganks there isn't enough time or space for him to farm enough to be effective. He's also gankable without an escape. Other heroes do better with the same level of farm dedication

That being said it will only take one or two teams showcasing him raping face for other teams to pick him up and try it out. Dota is all about trends

From Playdota:
Creep aggro has 500 area of effect, lasts for 2 seconds, and a 2 second cooldown for each hero. This cooldown is only activated when a hero is either directly attacked, or a unit visible to the targeted hero is given an order to attack the hero.

This means that when done right a unit can start the cooldown outside of the creep aggro area of effect and then proceed to attack a unit without drawing further aggro since it's on cooldown.

For example PotM's first takes advantage of this. By issuing an order to attack the Alchemist while she is away from the creeps, PotM makes the Alchemists aggro go into cooldown, but because she is farther than 500 from the lane creeps they don't attack her since she is outside of the aggro area of effect. She can now move as close as she wants to attack alchemist without drawing aggro for the next 2 seconds since Alchemists aggro is on cooldown.

By moving outside the area of effect of the aggro and then re-issueing new attack orders on Alchemist, PotM is able to abuse this techinque several times.

For heroes with orb attacks (Drow frost arrows, clinkz flaming arrows etc...), if you manually cast them it won't draw aggro. This is orb walking and makes harassing with them very potent. If you set it to autocast and simply right click, the normal aggro rules apply.

So as long as you right click the enemy hero whilst you are at least 500 range away from any creeps, your hero will walk forward and have 2 seconds to wail on an enemy hero before they have to back out of range and re-start the process?

Thanks a lot for that!

I also heard that you can attack your own creeps (like you do to get rid of tower aggro) but not sure if this actually works, I will give it a try next time I play.

Do illusions and summons and the Lone Druid's bear and whatnot give you experience like you were there yourself even if you're elsewhere on the map?

Attack your own creep, even a full health one will remove you from the tower aggro list. Tested and proven many times over.

Only if something else is closer to the tower than you. The aggro resets, which may or may not put you back on the tower's list when it searches for a new target.

As long as something else is attacking the tower or an enemy hero around the tower it will switch off of you.

Are you sure that doesn't apply only for heroes? As far as I know you never got experience from creeps outside the XP range, and getting XP from hero kills was a fairly recent change.

damn you're right. Thought they had just ported wc3 mechanics where your closest hero to the xp gets it

Just had a game where I gained a bloodstone charge when someone with aegis died. Is that intentional or a (minor) bug?

1. Was the nerf to veno really so harsh that he's no longer a viable pick for 5th position? Just a few months ago I think I saw him at least a few times, now he's never picked.

2. Why isn't bloodseeker a viable semi carry pro level? I get why he's not a very good ganker solo but he has really good stats and the skills to be both a huge single target dps source as well as a superb laner. But the biggest thing should be that if you lose a skirmish against his team he will easily clean house with the leftovers.

2) Ganks countered too easily by TPs, he can't really even semi-carry, his damage is only respectable if he has his silence on himself but he can't silence himself when he pops BKB which is 100% necessary on him in competitive games.
