I've found it helpful to try and predict how low the creep you want to lasthit will be by the time your attack lands. So instead of going "that creep is at 50HP, I should lasthit it-- whoops, i messed up", you go "that creep is going to be at 50HP in 0.5 seconds so I should attack right about now". 'course sometimes you just miss uphill 'cause RNG hates you. On July 14 2015 14:22 WindWolf wrote: So I want to start playing Dota2 again but I haven't touched it in ages. Any general advice on how to do that? Maybe start with 1v1 games? Starting with bot games is probably helpful to brush up on basic mechanics. Besides that just grinding pubs til you git gud is probably the best way, as long as you can handle the toxicity.

I found it useful to time my attacks to arrive in relation to ranged creep attacks. "My attack should arrive directly after the next ranged creep hit" or something similar.

But you get the same benefit from stopping one attack as from several.

Plus I'm playing XCOM: Long War, which is a mental challenge . (Essentially, you can find the game really challenging even if you save-scum like crazy)

Very first thing you should do is find a comfortable hotkey setup, if you are switching over from LoL unless you are diamond/master you are probably going to overwhelmed by having to press a lot more buttons. Here is a decent guide to start off + Show Spoiler + https://chaqdota.wordpress.com/2013/09/09/hotkeys-how-to-select-optimise-them/ Looking up guides and explanation of the Hero's just so you know what to expect in game, DoTACinema has short videos explaining all the hero's. Some of them are outdated but its still a good place to start. + Show Spoiler + https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL86E04995E07F6BA8 Learn to love Purge + Show Spoiler + https://purgegamers.true.io/g/dota-2-guide/ Other than that just keep playing and get good

But yeah I have found a comfortable hotkey set-up

It's usually obvious when he is going to try 2 dive you. Then you should be ready to run and hopefully make him pay if he over extends. Fighting a ud that already has decay stacks early is not so smart ![]()

Just lost a game because me and my partner lost a lane vs solo undying(yeah we fucking awfull) we tried running, nope, tried fighting him, nope, tried killing tombstone, nope. Everything resulted in death. We totally suck but... jesus what u do vs that hero. We were lina and void. generally u only die to tombstone if ur committing to killing him or u somehow get very out of position. otherwise if he pops tombstone u can just run away

Everything resulted in death. We totally suck but... jesus what u do vs that hero. We were lina and void. You always have to try and keep in mind he has the tombstone + decay healing + soul rip heal. You really shouldnt go for a kill unless you're very sure about it. When you go for a kill on a centaur or clockwerk or whatever and they escape with low HP its generally still fine, they have to go heal. When you go fora kill on undying and he escapes on low HP you die because you're fighting under tomb. People always seem to forget that and go for him just as the would go for a kill on any other offlaner. At the end of the day he is melee though and he lacks a way to start fights. If he runs up to you and drops tomb its generally the easiest retreat of your life (unless you're very low at which point you shuoldnt be in lane anyway). So he really feeds on people initiating on him and turning it around with tomb and massive healing. So focus much more on just harassing and CSing without going for the kill. In that lane Lina should be able to harass him very well from range, and void isnt bad either. Timelock, backtrack and a PMS and you're probably one of the few melee heroes who can trade hits with undying and come out of top. So play safe and harass him as much as you can when he goes for last hits. With both you and Lina harassing him he should eventually run out or regen or be low enough for you to go for a kill. And even if he plays safe himself you're at least keeping him out of last hits. I'd say Lina/Void is a very well equipped lane to deal with him, theres far worse combos you could have played. Its when you go for kills and he turns it around and get kills back he gets an upper hand in lane. If it happens once he might get enough of an advantage (mana boots and whatnot) to win the harassment war and push you out of last hits. Also remember he does fall off and hes the one who needs to get things done in lane. You dont, you're fine just farming. If you just sit there and farm and he gets no kills he's eventually gonna fall off and become less of a threat.
