What happens is the attack goes to the primary target, then the angle of the attack is determined when the projectile hits. The game draws a straight line from TA, through the centre of the target, and out the back. Any units who's damage box intersects the narrow rectangle on that line behind the primary target for whatever distance take spill damage. It's a dead straight line, no aoe to speak of just 68 units wide. Most of the aoe comes from the size of the back units being splashed to.

Which can result in near-sideways spills if the targets are close together and only extremely precise ones if the targets are at distance or have small damage boxes (lane creeps).

It is a long narrow rectangle, but the angle still matters to check whether the rectangle intersects a unit's circular collision box.

It is an AoE. The rectangle has a width of 68 units (IIRC that's a bug that's never going to be fixed, because the width in DotA 1 is actually like 52 units--which is probably why when she first came out, TA players felt Psi Blades was getting wider spills than in DotA 1).

I see. So when TA attacked at an angle, it's not surprising at all that the 3rd Sven is not hit because he's not in a straight line behind TA -> 1st Sven.

What's slightly surprising is that the 2nd Sven is still hit, and that's because even though he's not in a straight line TA -> 1st Sven -> 2nd Sven, 2nd Sven's model still collide with the 68-unit rectangle. Is this correct?

It seems like you can't place high-ground out-of-map wards on Reborn (tinker buff basically).

are you exaggerating on purpose or

cuz in the preborn dota map you can side ward most of the side lanes except for the radiant half of bot for some reason i think

or maybe all of bot lane idk

So I want to suggest that ChaQ's mid guide be added to the OP here because it's such a solid and comprehensive guide to the fundamentals of mid lane, and since this is the only thread that really gets posted in aside from the hero threads, I think that a thread dedicated to midlaning would be buried eventually, so could this guide be added to the OP?
