Go look at the Alliance/Na'Vi fan threads. They are not optimistic in the least bit. (The [A] thread is sad about bulldog, sad about mynuts, annoyed about EGM, and mixed about Loda; the Na'Vi thread is literally going from bashing Xboct, to free dendi, to Goblak sucks, to ZG sucks, etc etc.) Neither have done particularly well either (the difference between these 3 teams in marginal at the moment)
Seriously. Just browse them. [A] and Na'Vi just haven't had major matches yet, but anytime there are (DAC quals) their threads perk up too

He seems to think it's bad for the sport but he's wrong. The development of fan loyalty is nothing but good. Competitors will rise and fall through their careers and this is already difficult for them in a scene which has a lot of stability issues. But if those same competitors have fans who only base their fandom on current performance, it compounds that difficulty exponentially. There will always be people ready to support a team based on current performance; that is just sports. But fans who are willing to support a team through hard times are incredibly valuable.

Part of it's hype aversion, part of it's schadenfreude (I'll admit to some joy in seeing them lose to AlbumSheet after being "told" how much more organized and focused they were), and a lot of it's idle time and a slow moving forum.

Yes but you haven't explained why you have schadenfreude towards Tinker fans anyway. Nor is there any clear purpose to you raining on people's parades if they get a little excited for their team. This isn't the "sober Dota2 projections thread," it's the Team Tinker thread, a place where mainly people who have a positive interest in the team will come to discuss it.
Furthermore, none of the things that were said about their games when they did well were false. They were better coordinated and used the map better than they had in months. Their drafts made better sense. They looked like an organized team. None of that has been proven untrue simply because they lost to AS.
