I'm hyped! There will be a LOT of games coming up! So if you see matches that are exciting or worth checking out overall: write it here! We can't watch everything
Hm, on the first day I will probably watch: EG-Soniqs (NA-Drama!!!) Secret-TA (because Puppey) LGD-EG (EG again? But both are high-contenders; have to) TSM-Tundra (the IMHO potential "upset teams") Liquid-BB (have to finally watch Matu )
Liquid managed to stretch the game long enough with Magnus + Enigma. As long as they control the Rubick fights are pretty straight forward at that point.
Interesting they choose to pick Magnus into Rubick since LGD wanted the Rubick side in last TI.
I figured it out, go out of full screen. Enable chat, hover on video and the putple dots to the right become clickable so it can be turned off. In full screen they are not clickable.
edit, might be that there is a 3x3 pixel area on it clickable while the button looks larger.
Ok, first day done! What did we learn? - EG are the team to beat - LGD are not performing as expected - BetBoom are probably the first team to drop - Group B looks quite close for now ... the 3 games tomorrow should tell us more
I think I'll skip dota2 Reddit for the rest of TI. The top 8 threads are complaints about production. I can't be that negative about something I enjoy watching.
Yeah there was so much dota 2 games today, and for me as an EG fan all 3 series were awesome, i care little for complaining about production when such good dota happened lol.
Did I miss the production problems? I think the only one I witnessed was one game where the observer dropped. But after a quick reconnect everything was fine. Took <1min. Why would I complain about that?

Yep I feel the same after the last week or so, nothing interesting there
Game 1 TL vs EG is suprisingly even after Pudge Aghs. TL looked average yesterday while EG looked very strong. Sven doesn't get to do anything in the fights.
Probably need to get an abyssal on Nightfall to stun through bkb.
Then he got to hit two fights in a row and EG won them easily.
Is rapier on Sven right choice? Wouldn't a refresher be stronger? If he wanted DPS another crit or attack speed item such as bloodthorn? A good thing is it forces him to play back. So he gets to actually DPS.
Silver Edge would probably be the best one, actually getting close enough to blink on people.
On October 16 2022 14:31 emperorchampion wrote: Basically no need to be in that position, but just EG things
They couldn't fight without a linken once pudge had blink + bkb. Lost two fights in a row at that timing. Then won three in a row with linken and better positioning.
Decided to pick a team to cheer for before TI to make it more exciting and picked Liquid, oh my this series must be hard to watch for a real Liquid Dota fan...
Two big early game leads followed by letting PSG.LGD attacking 2-3 people with 5 and coming back into the game. And in both games it felt Liquid thought they could win those battles as the lead was big and got smashed.
LGD are probably the best at comebacks. I don't care how big your lead is against them they still win a couple team fights and before you know it it's an even game again.

I’d argue for spirit because they’re so good at team fighting you can never count them out
Yeah group B is super close, one 0-4 or 4-0 day can completely change things

Haven’t had a chance to watch much, but result wise aster is finally showing up internationally and rng on top of group A is also interesting. Then again, they haven’t played lgd og and eg. 1-1 with liquid is nothing to scoff at though.
On October 17 2022 11:13 Yurie wrote: RNG seems to understand the Meta much better. SF + Nyx opening vs Chen + Primal.
Then you have EG vs BB where both Nyx and Tiny are ignored.
Primal is up there also - third in total contests and second most banned. I think he's mostly been mid from what I've seen but probably you can play him in a bunch of positions
Sad RNG is forfeiting game 2. Might explain the lacklustre game 1?
If they Forfeit the other two series today it will get interesting in the group stage since they can maximum have 11 wins due to 1 series tomorrow. Which is against OG, if they skip all games today a 1-1 tomorrow would seem strong. Thus going from 9-1 to 10-8 or 9-9 isn't out of possibility...
If I was them I would 100% play the Hokori series, even if I have to have 2 standins. 2 wins there would pretty much guarantee an upper bracket.
Lol GG.Boom rolling out to clear wave and gets stuck in terrain. Annoying to have to specify that way due to Boom having a tight game against Soniqs at the same time and BetBoom losing just before.
Liquid picks seems so-so. Especially keeping Enigma core into Silencer. A bloodseeker pick could have been nice against pango, Secret really showed off with that.
Yeah, some kind of reconnection bug hit... And Liquid used their downtime well! Good teamfights atm! Can they get back from this 20k lead? (now only 13k)
Were they able to resume the OG Liquid game 1 or did they have to remake from scratch? Didn't get a chance to watch any of it, just skimming stuff on reddit.

Missed every game today, was at the office (good thing I'm working from home tomorrow ), any recommended games to catch-up besides the ones already mentioned in the thread?
Man EG are playing so well right now and its amazing. Everyone is playing well and Arteezy is just making all the right moves and seems zen'd into Dota right now, wow!
Only sad thing is that the groupstage > knockout stage "Break" could potentially stunt the momentum, which is only thing that worries me right now.

This is what i use when i watch VODs as well and it is very good, sometimes it is slow to upload all the games with draft times etc etc, but when you know which streams your team is on you can unspoil your way through pastbroadcast on twitch and watch spoiler free too.
On October 18 2022 14:48 Geisterkarle wrote: Oh, BOOM won a map against EG? Was that EG screwing around - they are locked in first place anyway - or did BOOM play well?
EG firstpicked primal and pudge and got countered with bristle
Puppey not holding any grudges against Entity apparently and helping them to avoid elimination.
TA is currently mega throwing against BC and a possible slot at the upper bracket. If they lose against BC, we are having a 3-way-tiebreaker between TA, BC and Team Spirit for the last remaining slot.
TSM officially eliminated from TI. Presume we will see some changes in the team, they have been losing their drive lately...Saberlight may return to EU, although it does not seem that there is any open place for him at a decent team.

Liquid is going to have to do some roster changes due to Matumba but not sure if they just want a new carry or are doing more things. Gaimin Gladiators or Entity doing some changes also seem likely.

True...the shoes which have to be filled when Matu will leave are big, the remaining four seems to be back in shape right in time unless somebody wants to leave do not think they will change anything.
We also do not know what Nigma is up to, rumours are saying that Kuro will retire and Miracle will be having another lengthy break and miss out next year due to health issues.
To trash a bit on NA dota. After group stage there is: Top 1 in a group Tied last in the same group Last in another group Second from last in LCQ group Last in other LCQ group
To be honest this is surprising as the second NA team performed decently at LANs during the season.

Well they’re always at the top and the bottom :/
But yeah, poor showing from na, not necessarily unexpected though.

Alliance is likely to make a new team from the ground up. So there are plenty of EU options, more about which ones gel and are competitive.

I feel like there could be a giant EU shuffle coming and even if OG doesn't make a huge lower bracket run they may consider mixing things up. Consider also Yapzor may comeback - I can see basically every team changing. Maybe not Tundra depending on how they feel and their TI results.
edit: I also feel like there is a dearth of pos 1 players in EU coming up with potentially miracle out, nikobaby doesn't seem interested and matu retiring. Players like Ace and Reso have moved to pos3. iltw has never seemed to gel well into teams. Yuragi/Nisha/Skiter/Crystallis will have huge value next season and there will probably be more EEU/SEA/SA imports for pos1.

He has such a great playstyle as a flexible 1
Yes, truly the unsung hero on the TI-winning Liquid-squad. Many carry players have a limited hero pool, but he seems to be able to play everything and make it work and his signature heroes are still worth to be banned out. Like Miracle back in the days...there was basically no hero, he could not play and make game winning plays/moves.
What WEU is missing in decent carries, can be picked up at EEU. Seeing how Pure is performing with Entity(maybe not at this TI due to stress), same may be a winning formula.
