Here, let me tell you what Farcry 3 and 4 are (they are the same game)
Skyrim with AC open world mechanics +guns and cars -magic. They both have fantastic villains and make you upgrade your bag/wallet/weapon slots/ life bars.

Game was ok, 7/10

Farcry 4 gets points for not having weird racist overtones to it too. But they are very similar. I would play 4 if given a choice. But 3 is really cheap.

I'm downloading 4 right now, let's see how stupid it actually is.

Also, has anyone played Endless Legends? I can't find a race I like in it, Wild Walkers are kinda nice, I like the idea behind the Broken Lords, but don't like playing them since I have to spend dust to buy citizens instead of just making them naturally like the other races.

Well it does - I just meant that Farcry seemed a lot more like an FPS with open-world concepts while Skyrim seemed like an RPG with open-world concepts making the open-world aspect being all that they have in common.

At no point do you shout a dragon out of the sky, so not totally skyrim. You do go grenade fishing for sharks and knife unlimited dudes. Also fight tigers with flame throwers.

Also, I have never been more disappointed with a spell than I was with the "dragon grounding" shout. The fact that the dragon didn't crash to the ground is an amazing display of destruction bummed me out every time I knocked one down with the power of my voice.

Skyrim is probably the game that was the most disappointing to play on release for me, or well i guess Spore gets to keep that title for a while, but yeah i was kind of hoping that after how great morrowind was and how lame oblivion was that skyrim would once again be a great TES installment as well, but nope ):

The game world just felt so damn empty(Capital had like what, 12 fucking houses?) and 95% of the time was spend navigating draugr dungeons.

Mods is what saved the game for sure, without mods i would've probably just stopped playing after 40-50 hours i think.

Oh how i wish Obsidian would do the next Fallout game again instead of bethesda.

The highlight of Skyrim was the build where you could make a Khajiit that used only hand to hand combat and make them do very reasonable damage. So you could make a legendary "cat-man-dragon-puncher", which really shows the versatility of the engine.

thought skyrim played more like fallout than anything
and i haven't played 4, but farcry3 plays nothing like fallout

Probably because fallout 3 is like a skyrim prototype, lol.
Except ghoul subways instead of draugr dungeons!

Okay maybe the subways weren't quite as bad as the dungeons, but yeah.

I'm talking the feeling of the game not the actual mechanics... I had this striking realization when going from collecting flowers to skinning a boar in FC3 that I did a very similar thing, on the very basic level, in skyrim. It talked to the exact same part of my gamer identity. The part that is dead today.

The problem is I felt like collecting stuff in Farcry, while pretty, was relatively unrewarding. I didn't feel like I was accomplishing much, and while in Skyrim you would fight a boss or something at the end of a dungeon for your reward, in Farcry you would just get item danger free and walk away.

Farcry 4 really upped the number of random creatures in the world and weird combination of events that can happen due to them. The fear of random rhinos knocking your car over is real.

I still remember freaking out the first time I played Skyrim when I got jumped by a Sabre Cat. Fuckers were quiet and stealthy and shit, it was terrifying; at least Bears roared to tell you to GTFO...

yea i agree to an extent
the most impact made to the game was the type of weapon you were using, and that could be purchased using money. the collectibles you obtained through crafting/gathering were just expansions to grenade slots and armor and whatever random shit that makes the game more convenient, but doesn't make you feel like you're making any progress.
in that regard it resembles asscreed a lot

nice I'm finding similarities between games made by the same devs w0w
