TI3 finals was still Bat+Wisp every fucking game. Yeah, i kinda figured that was true (naga was played a bit...differently compared to how it is run now). I'm still kinda curious and wanna look back.
Something about shrapnel needs to change though - there are a slew of ways to nerf sniper and 1 or 2 will send that hero into obscurity again.

i mean iirc right after TI2 was when icefrog removed morphling from the game and comeh was emo for literally over a year

i was like a 3.0k player at the time though so idk. That was honestly the largest over nerf ever tbh. Not IF's greatest hour

In which case the amount of "TI3 finals were just as shit, TI finals are just like that" that came out after the anticlimactic TI4 finals should have been more than a little surprising to you. What really matters is that 5th game and that the series was back and forth before it. The other games hardly even matter. That grand finals will always be memorable because of how it ended, while the WB finals was what people remember about TI2.

TI3 finals were one of those games where the quality of games were very low, but the entertainment value of the games were very high.
Lets be honest best finals TI1

Like if you consider the hero nerfs, glyph refresh on T1 kill, pre-nerf comeback mechanics, etc., it's pretty ridiculous how hard IF tried to hate that strat out of the game.

Erm, yeah that's true I was just talking about in terms of a specific singular hero
its also funny because it was like a culmination of 10 patches of trying to make games faster paced / end quicker.
LIKE YA OK IF YOU GET WHAT YOU WANTED

If you disregard deleting a hero from the game. Can't get much worse than that.

ti4 games were really good except for the finals and thats only because newbee was like 3x better

I dislike the current patch really, all these changes from TI3 were made to fuck with the (old) almighty A and now look at what have the game become - tasteless pub games and uninteresting pro games. Pub stars teams arise and methodical strategy executions are less effective now thanks to the comeback mechanics.
That or teams are playing at a much higher level games right now or I'm getting too old to love dota like I used to do.

also i read on some reddit comment(so idk the legitimacy and i can't find the comment forgot which thread was it) that fy said on the stream during the grand finals against newbee after losing 2 games he was telling rotk to pick something else and not go push but rotk still followed his heart

Even C9 had a chance of kicking VG out if they didn't gamble all of it in a lvl 1 Rosh with live audiance.
