He saves Harry Potter and tried to "protect" him yes but he always let his grudge and hate for James Potter seep in and the only reason why he even wanted to save the family is because Lily would be alive. Hell I remember he begged for Voldemort to kill James and Harry but spare Lily because he couldn't let go of the fact she chose James over him. A lot of what he did which would be seen as good and under orders of Dumbledore were for selfish reasons and so he could get back at Voldemort for taking away Lily from him. Snape definitely fits under anti-hero section. | ||

Also, if he was truly evil, he would have stopped giving a shit after Lily was dead. But he hung around to protect Harry and the school kids in the end. I get what you are saying, but the Snape that tries to save Lily for selfish reasons is not the same guy who protects Harry. He changes after her death. | ||
