Its a creature of its time, before regularly available broad band internet. It is a couch co-op 3D shooter that has not aged well. But its still fun with a bunch of beers.
back at school we had an n64, our games were basically limited to oot, mario kart and goldeneye
several years previous to this i had begged my mum repeatedly for one but she always said no (i had ps1) so my experience of n64 up until i was about 17 was enitrely made up of when i was at my friend's house or from airport lounges
crash bandicoot was great. FFX was also great because at the time it was the coolest thing my 10 y/o brain could imagine
it was kind of weird because i remember Chrono Cross hitting america in 2000, which i loved, and then FFX came out with a HUGE graphical jump in 2001. Chrono Cross holds up better today but it was hard to resist all those fancy new polygons way back when.
Yeah, I miss the era where controller for counsels were not $50 a pop. It makes it really hard to make these couch co-op games viable. The SNES and N64 were a great time for that.
You have to have friends to make Gang Beasts enjoyable, so its not enjoyable to me.

those controllers weren't too far off tbh.
Didn't they have the knockoff ones for £15 or so in Gambergerland? Getting all the stuff like a memory card and that expansion card for a n64 was so expensive though, couldn't really get that one from a fake brand. q_q
