Dota 2 isn't even that bad in terms of system requirements. It's pretty close to LoL even if google is to be trusted... I dunno, I guess I'm underestimating how terrible Chinese computers are or something. It's all very strange, tho.

The lowest LoL system requirements are way below those of Dota.

Edit: Apparently a single core with 1gb of ram and an old graphics card can handle LoL (running xp ofc).

Yeah and a single core 3GHz processor and 2gb RAM can run Dota 2. That's not a massive difference at all. More or less the recommended LoL requirements are the same as Dota 2's minimal.

It is harder, but not that harder. It's not like comparing LoL to some new next gen game, or something... both are very much in the same ballpark. Also, I'm pretty sure the old desktop at my parents place with a single core processor and windows xp could run Dota 2 just fine. It was on minimal details, but it was perfectly playable.

I mean, you could probably play dota2 on a potato if you have absolutely no standards. You are suppose to play on a shit resolution with everything on low and use the render bar to sacrifice even more quality for it to run "good" on a bad pc. But it will just end up looking all blurry.

The thing is, the bottom end settings for DotA 2 use the render quality option, which affects playability a lot more than the other settings available in either game because at low render quality, everything is a huge blur.

So while technically the bottom end settings for both games are probably similar, the bottom end settings in DotA are a lot less actually playable.

The thing is, there are not that many setups that can run LoL, but can't run Dota 2. That's why I don't buy the argument that people in China still play WC3 DotA or LoL because of Dota 2's system requirements. Unless the majority of computers in China are in that narrow "can play LoL, can't play Dota" corridor, that just doesn't make a sense. It would make sense if Dota 2 wasn't actually popular in China, but everything apart from the actual amount of people playing (social network followers, stream viewers, etc.) point towards it being popular. I really want someone to explain that to me.
