Yeah I think that's the point actually. A lot of games were bashed and actually failed because od being buggy/ unfinished on release. Valve is not a developer that makes such games AFAIK.

Still it's good to hear things are speeding up, faster beta might ultimately lead to faster realese if we give good enough feedback :D


Yea i see the way he words his word as this :

Valve thought they'll only release Dota 2 to the public when it's ready otherwise people will be quick to judge and dismiss it when it seemed so unpolished especially compared to LoL and HoN.
But he has received overwhelming requests for Beta as well as many desperate attempts ( hacking, leaking) by everyone to know every little bit about Beta that Icefrog says " Screw it, our fans are loyal anyways. We'll just show dota the way it is and everyone can help improve it."

That seemed consistent with the way icefrog has been doing stuff for the past years as well as early beta when he(Valve) took lots of advice from Pros and implemented them really fast

Not really uncommon.

People say Magina/Furion/Mirana etc all the time instead of their usual name

I call pudge pudge and not the butcher(its the butcher right?)

I dunno, its a habit and perhaps with names which are too long or hard to pronounce its easier to just say the hero name.

They can be played properly, using mines early to get fast agha/ euls, stack mines on some fancy sites(remote mines on escape/chase routes work well) rely on disables from items and some stasis traps and using remote mines in fight and you can actually contribute to the team

Just don't spend all day stacking mines in jungle, mines are great at pushing and if you're ganked just suicide into towers to push even more :D I used to play techies this way, the problem is you need quite some money to start contributing to the team and its still mostly spaming evrything u got and suicide, if you do this well and have team that knows how stuff works(any voice chat helps a lot) you can be support techies. Nothing like putting mines under euled carries :D

tiny throwing anyone into the enemy team is hilarious and often great, regardless of whether or not its techies!

Just curious if there is word on when betakeys will become more readily available for average joes like me who have been excited about this game for ages. I played some competitive SC2, but thats about all Ive got on my resume haha. I havnt been able to dig up anything definitive.

I believe its on all the hero animations so they feel the same as if they were on WC3. I could be wrong though. Makes it tougher for HoN players to transition since all their animations in that game are basically instant.

Latency aside, yeah some heroes' atks feel kind of awkward, but im not sure if this is what you are talking about.

One example is razor. when his little whip in dota 2 hits something, the damage isn't registered until like 200ms later. So you see the whip hit, wonder why the creep isn't dead, or wonder how u missed that last hit, then the damage registers and the creep dies. Its just something you have to get used to i guess.

i wish they had fixed that. razors attack in dota was so annoying because the hit would register much slower than the lightning. only after you had an orb effect like desolator or skadi would it have the true projectile speed

I like wc3 dota as much as the next guy but maybe some things shouldn't be kept exactly the same, like some attack animations.

plan is to emulate dota1 with some slight tweaks and then really change stuff. which will take a long time to do
