No clue, Aussies should get it first although they do share, whereas SA has quite the distance. I am curious though what the numbers are for each region (average).

Doubt it lol. But we get alright ping to europe so its alright. The orange areas center around Cape Town and Johannesburg so that seems about right.

Just curious how many players are online/playing in LoL/HoN at the moment?
Based on xfire, LoL is actually the most played game on the world, by far (doubled hours played per day than second place).

Of course it's only a sample but not a bad one to show of percentages.

According to xfire, Dota has 3000 players. Why? Because xfire is pointless for Steam games. Not relevant information, different communities and different regions may use xfire more than others.
We all know LoL has 'more' players, but we don't have numbers like we have from valve. We only have massaged data, so comparing is kind of silly.
As for HoN, there's a site that shows a graph of the player numbers like we have for Dota but I don't remember where it is. When I last checked it was around 40k during EU peak and like 120k during SEA peak.

Actually that only counts europe and NA and only people that use xfire which changes from gaming community to gaming community. So it's a really bad way to measure which game is more or less played.

people still use xfire? that crappy program never got popular.

I just finished my animated version of the last 24 hours. Unfortunately I fell asleep during GSL so the gif is missing 1400 CET.
Enjoy (started at 1700 CET yesterday): + Show Spoiler +

Yes, exactly. It only counts NA and europe, which is less than half the actual worlds population and xfire, as already mentioned, is popular in certain gaming communites and non-existant in others.
Ontop of that xfire also counts time where your client is simply open as time used playing and due to the nature of the LoL client having it open is common regardless of playing, i mean i do the same for DotA2.
Statistics and be twisted.

Is it me or is there a lone gamer on madagascar?

If 11 servers are indeed accurate by saying that DotA has 5 million games played only this year only shows that the massive fans are in the Asia scene. And I see no reason for them to lie about it because Tencent would cut their hands...
Speaking of Asia, IceFrog is in China right now. He even posted some pictures in his Weibo:

Still can't believe how big greenland is.
With the global warming it's probably quite habitable soon enough. Denmark should send settlers there, create millions of babies and become a new superpower.

Greenland isn't THAT big. It appears big due to the distortion caused by projecting a spherical surface onto a flat plane.

I guess it is big by European standards though.

He said he'd be surprised, that's all he said. And considering the population is a lot smaller then that of the aforementioned islands - in addition to it being more remote, I don't see how his statement can be construed as any kind of ignorance. The fact that you project onto him your prejudices about Americans is quite the cherry on top.
