You can sub dash for cyclone strike and see what you like best, each has it's advantages (cyclone procs resolve on everything on the screen, but it's more spirit hungry, so those damn blood sorcerers are more annoying) Mods you need on your weapons are life/spirit socket and crit dmg. Optional mods are life leech dexterity and life on hit. Your gear should focus on mass resists armor dexterity crit chance and attack speed, with enough vit so you don't get burst down easily. You can get sick dps with this build. EDIT: If your dps is high enough you can ditch every sustain for dual life leech.
If you're dual wielding, I would strongly suggest subbing out dashing strike for blind with the dmg buff (which also stacks with overawe), since the build is centered around bursting elites down, and gives you another interrupt.

The better defensive mantra is evasion/hard target. However, once you're geared enough, you can pick whatever mantra you want (Conviction/Overawe).

until blizz realizes they need to let mantra of healing somehow scale with your gear/hp mantra of evasion is going to be the superior defensive choice imho.

Also i use quickening instead of thunderclap for more spirit which i dump for a constant 24%dps increase and a lot of healing. If i subbed out dashing strike i would need thunderclap to chase mobs and speed up my run and that would result in overall lower dps and survivability due to less spirit and less mobilty. So blind has no place in this build unfortunately, cuz other stuff is simply much better.

I don't know exactly how it works, but blind brings me from 66k ---> 102k according to the stat sheet, so it's a lot more than 30%. You can't write it off has a mere 6% increase, because most of the time, you never stand in one spot and dps for 15 seconds long. You run in, serenity, mantra, blind, dps for 4-5 seconds, then back out for better position, or often times, the elites are already dead. The uptime of blind is really high relative to the amount of time to actually spend fighting. Thunderclap is used on top of this because it's the highest dps spirit generator; the teleport is just a bonus.

Well i build tanky as fuck so i don't run around much =P I like to stay in one place and hold down mouse button. Maybe i can swap out serenity soon we will see.

I would be interested to see your gear/build. I like the idea of dual wielding, but I wouldn't know how to improve my gear.

So aside from the typical FoT/Reach-Serenity-Breath-Wind-Mantra set up, what is the 6th ability that everyone prefers? One of the few things that's a problem for me is getting surrounded (either through vortex, or anything else) and not being able to escape.
I've tried Lashing Tail Kick with Sweeping Armada; helps separate a group of mobs to DPS them down one by one, really liked this ability.
I noticed Dashing Strike is popular, played with it for a while. Definitely has its uses, but my mouse accuracy is, unfortunately, poor, and frequently I miss my targets. Sometimes one would just want to escape mobs, rather than teleport to another one.
Currently using Tempest Rush; very useful in escaping any group of mobs surrounding your character, but tends to be a little situational, not as flexible as Dashing Strike.
Or does everyone just go with Mystic Ally and hope they don't get trapped.

I like blind with +30% damage(it's actually 50% according to char sheet, but don't tell blizzard that). It's not quite an escape, but an AoE CC is pretty good, and it helps with maximizing dps if overgeared.

It could just be showing the wrong numbers on the char sheet (as was happening with Magic weapon for wiz) and you're just at +30% damage. Has anyone tested this ingame?

I prefer Dashing, If you get the timings down on it, you can dodge arcane/frozen/descrator etc. Plus helps you get out form being surrounded or dashing into a mob might save your sweeping winds.

Don't think I could live without my Dashing Strike. It has saved me more times than I can count. It is vital when I have to kite groups that I can only hit a few times befire I have to run again. Especially when they're jailors or wallers.
Nowadays I also tend to run with Fire Ally instead of Sweeping Winds, but that will change as soon as I don't have to kite so much anymore.

What about helms with +damage to FoT/Wind (the others, I take it, are worthless)? What are the recommendations on that? I figured since a 10% damage boost to FoT, for example, is basically a 10% overall damage boost without the Wind, it is a very sought after stat.

I have a 10% bonus on deadly reach on my madstone. got around 10k armor buffed with enchantress, doing magma runs. I prefer not teleporting on the enemy, it causes more problems then its worth.

I've been trying to do that for like 4 weeks, but it never works for me. Maybe I'm terrible at it, or just have a crappy computer, because I always end up teleporting on top of molten or desecration when I shift click behind.

I prefer the dashing strike teleport. That way i don't teleport into molton
