Measly? Where are you in Inferno? Mine is 780 dps, I feel like a bum -.-
Are you doing inferno with that?
Yes, it's a 780 DPS ceremonial knife with +110ish int, +120ish vit, +290 life on hit and +11 mana regen (not a naked blue by any means). I have been alternating between solo and group play (for example Belial I did in a group setting with barb + wiz). Yesterday I got to Arreat Crater Lv2 before heading off to sleep (I lost my NV due to sloppy play and goddamned worms killing me and botching my kill attempt on a particularly tanky elite pack), but it is a slow walk through Act 3.
No elite pack skipping either, except for 1 soul ripper pack right at some level's entrance (retarded lol). I just have high-ish Armor and Resistances.
You might want to consider switching to a higher dps blue weapon. Your stats might decrease, but it should be offset by the dramatic increase in dps.

Yeah, I'm looking to upgrade my weapon one of these days. Thing is, I have invested a few millions in helping my barbarian friend gear up, as he needs more gear than I do. When I have the money, I'll upgrade in the meantime I'm on the prowl for bargains in the AH.

over all in act 1 you can play just like up to hell (except summons suck more), act 2 is where the challange starts
I assume you are talking inferno here, you've managed to work with it into act 2? I abandoned it well before that. I simply needed more CC slots and found myself mostly using SW just as a 'run the hell away' additional escape/CC spell without ever getting close to the mobs. What do you use with it?
I finished inferno and I'm farming Cyde/Azmo, +30% dps and more resists is just awesome vs anything. It's like having a 150dps better weapon but for free ^^. Zombie wall, horrify and grasp are enough for cc IMO.

Tried every build I could think of and fully repaired about 3 times before I gave up on trying to do that encounter. Last part is as simple as it gets but my gear at the time meant I was losing 90% of my hp when snakes hit me, best combo for that was using a bears build but that became useless due to mana once the boss came and you had to single target. For the boss darts, locusts, haunt are much better tbh.
I've done act III up to and incl siegebreaker but it was a 3/4 wait for rezz timer, 1/4 kill packs - made it to beast with 5 NV though :D. Thing is with 25k dps(maybe less, 29.5k with pierce)/32k hp/400 resist all/3.6k armor it's too painful to farm (either many deaths or enrages).
Is my gear too bad or is my default build crappy or do I just lack patience and I'm supposed to kite everything, because as I see it it's a mix of kiting and playing melee as WD, without 30% extra DR? Using http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#aQfUPj!ZUW!aZccab Passive I might swap between jungle fort and spirit vessel; Mass Confusion can use with mass hist or paranoia.
your build is pretty suicidal, lol. You dont have any CC (mass conf with 60s cd doesnt count) VQ is terrible if you die in one hit. I'd suggest dart build and buying new weapon/mojo, 30k dps is really low for a3, with that you should farm a2.
I'm too stubborn to do that (well, I was, stopped once i killed siegebreaker, now farming act 2 goblin), prolly spent couple mils on repairs in acts 2-3. My mojo is 102-352 with int/vit/mana regen/some str so that's not a prob. But I need a few million to buy a 850 dps+ weapon with same vit/life regen, which i don't have. Dart seems like an extremely slow build for 30k dps.

30k dps is lowwwww, considering you've killed siegebreaker.

well when I had 30k dps I was farming A1/2, switched to pony with 40k dps then when I had enough defense and 60k+ dps I went a3 all with darts
Don't you need to kill Izual AIV Inf to be able to buy the recipe for the staff for pony?
The 'act hopping' still works. I made a game last night for Diablo quest in hell, left, searched for pub game and I could choose to go to diablo in inferno. Went in, left, resumed game, and bought the staff plans.
As the person above me said, you only need to upgrade your staff with the recipe you can buy from a merchant. So you build your staff in normal diff then upgrade it. You have to be in the prime evil quest to do so. (2nd part of the last quest)
Thank you for the advice everyone, right after I made the post I remembered how you do it :D Don't have enough gold for last one yet but that shouldn't be a problem. I've spent the last 5 days after work farming that stupid goblin, gonna be able to do it a couple more days (or maybe I get lucky).

one goblin? there're 2 in act 2 (road to alcatras and ancient path) Its twice as fast when you farm both in one run

gotten tired of getting 1 hitted, so i spent shitload to exchange 4 pure int into int/vit/allres, and guess what, still getting 1 hitted. >_<
using Jungle Fortitude + Bad Medicine?
I went the glass cannon route upon entering A3 because the cost to get good Int/Vit/All Res gear is far too expensive for me to ever be willing to spend
I would rather level a DH and invest that gold into a DH for fast clear farm times
Hey guys, I would recommend this post to any aspiring witch doctors, as I have based my builds off of it and am currently in Act 4 Inferno (up to Izual at the moment) having soloed all content. With my current glass cannon set-up, I have 38k damage (or 42k if I run Pierce the Veil), 28k health, 0 +resist and can farm Act 4 content with 5 stacks of valour. I would love to try and answer any questions you have about the builds, strategies for killing rare/elites or gearing but read the guide first. Good luck out there.
