I don't think you need alot of gold - I reckon a 1200 DPS 2h crossbow with a socket or 90+ crit will maybe go for like 10mil (dunno the price)? Importantly, use the damage calculator to indeed verify that it'll be a good upgrade for you. far less than 10m, you can get 1300 for 10m or less I thnk

just make a barb
rule of thumb, play what jay plays and you'll be okkk

It doesn't matter what gear you buy, you're always gonna die in 1-2 hits without gloom on (with a 10m budget) unless you get ridiculous mitigation and sacrifice damage.

You should be able to afford a mf set capable of farming a1 for fairly cheap. Act 3 is totally different and just not possible with a 10m budget, for an efficient mf set that is. A lot of time in act 3 is spent running if you die so it is more important to just not die in a3 than it is to have mf. Less time running means more time killing which turns into more paragon levels for more mf and more items. Look for dex, vit, and all resist where you can or if that is too expensive look for physical resist. Also don't neglect armor in this game for a3 you should aim for at least 3600 imo and more is better. You don't need all stats on all pieces, for example, many ppl forego any defensive stats on gloves because it is such an important dps slot since it can roll trifecta + up to 300 dex.
Oh I wanted to add also if you're really hurting for survivability and can take a couple of hits and don't mind a little lower dps, weapons are extremely cheap now, I bought a couple of close to 900 dps 1-h xbows (for reflects damage mobs) with 100+dex and 700+loh and socket for less than 500k for both of them, these weapons would have fetched 10m a piece before 1.04. You might be surprised how much 1500 loh adds to survivability.

Not at all, strive for 200 ar, 400 physical resist, and 4000 armor.

Don't buy mf. You'll hate yourself when you realize you're gimping your character and still just praying for a good drop like everyone else. Just buy a solid set to farm A3 and do that instead. MF will become even less significant with monster power.

Well, you might not hate yourself, but you'll certainly hate dying over and over and having to spend 75% of your time running from checkpoints back to where you left off.
I run with near max MF always, and I don't seem to find any more sets/legendaries than people I run with. I certainly find many many many more rares, but those are pretty much worthless to me at this point. I only pick up 63s, Rings and Ammys. It takes to much time to stop and pick everything up. I'm starting to drop MF for survival and more damage. It just isn't worth it.

When you have a 10mil budget yea I'd skip the mf, but you make it sound as if MF was useless.

He just plays with me enough to know that MF at the cost of dying every other pack pretty much gimps you beyond the benefits you gain from MF.

Yea trust me I know how tough it is to get MF, damage and survivability all at once

I hate my MF right now, honestly. I'm maxed and I just can't wait til after the patch to get some nice new gear.

You can always do MF switch just before kill, like I started doing some weeks ago. You can get a full MF set for a couple 100k on AH (blues with little or no stats, but high MF).
Works pretty well, even though its a bitch switching that often. =/

I'm close to maxed too and seriously consider selling my mf gear now. Why would you wait until after the Patch? The longer you wait the less mf gear will be worth. MP gives lots of xp and you get another 35% from the Inferno machine ring which means much faster paragon leveling

So if patch 1.05 comes out and all acts end up being same in drop potential, what locations do you think will be the best for farming?
