Hi guys,
I'm in Europe and the game will sell for 60 euros off battle.net which is really quite pricey when they Europe costs tons for me now. Meanwhile people in the US pay 60 dollars, which is way less. Anyone found any great deals, either online or locally for your country ? Would be nice if we could rack up a list of the best places to buy the product from.
I've heard people say they preordered it on Amazon and apparently they get it for 1/3 of the price it sells for at release day.
|
Just use whatever price comparison website you have in your specific country (Pricerunner for me for example) whenever you're about to buy a new game, pretty simple really.
I ordered the Collector's Edition for 799 kr, which is about €90. Cheapest I've seen for the regular edition over here is 'bout €48.

In Iceland the game goes for 10.000 krónur ( 80 dollars / 531 sek ) , collectors edition for 20.000 krónur ( 160 dollars / 1062 sek. ).
The inflation is pretty rampant and the main reason I want to find the best price possible.
|
And its ridiculous because Iceland has had the largest collapse of any country in the recent crisis.. and the prices are still so obscenely high? What the hell

![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/pkl7R.jpg) Newegg has it for 10$ less in usa :D

Well the collapse is part of the reason. Foreign trade for us is pretty harsh since our currency is a pile of poo.
|
The average income in Iceland is almost identical to the average income in the US. This is also true for about a third of all European countries. A large portion of European countries also have a higher average income higher than the US. Sure the Euro is worth more than the dollar but Europeans also have an average income higher than the dollar.
My Point: Yes its more expensive in Europe but difference is not as big as people make it out to be because the average European makes more than the average American. Therefore how $60 dollars is viewed compared to how 60 euros is viewed in their respective countries is quite similar.

Correct. Pre-ordered it for £23 so that was awesome. Now sells for £33 which for a new game really isn't too bad at all.

Having different prices in different countries seems kind of unfair. Do you have any contacts that you could ask to get it for you or something ? I don't know about the legality and besides you cant play on release day.

I have contacts in the UK and such. They could wire me the cd key once they get it I guess. Question is if there would be any delay in getting to play and if the delay would be worth the saved money.

Question #2: is the game region locked? Make sure of that first

Blizz store is 60€. No thanks. Online stores are roughly at 50€. I expect them (along with big local stores) to lower the price in the first 1-2 weeks to 30-35ish € - just as it happened with SC2. A good indication this will happen might be, that the game was sold for ~21 pounds at some point on amazon.co.uk with the price guarantee from amazon... too bad I couldn't pre-order it back then (as the world might know, in Germany basically no one uses/has a credit card which is required to order from the UK).

I got mine in Poland for 165zł, which is 52$ or 40€. I'd say that's decent price considering how expensive the games are becoming.
|
In France, Amazon sells it for €42 but you have to wait a couple of days to get it. Mine is expected to arrived on May 18th
|
Last game I gought was from thehut.com, because games are so much cheaper in the UK. Turned out I had to wait for a long time and had to buy taxes. So my question to all fellow germans: does this happen every time, or is it kinda luck based (depending on the Zoll)? And where do you plan to buy it?
|
http://plati.ru/asp/pay.asp?id_d=1299680 50 bucks, its russian digital codes sales only site, I bought there few games, seems legit. ps if you want to buy there - read the description of the product, 'cuz you'll get your key only 15 of may. aaaand you can find there d3 for 28 bucks, dont buy it - it is russian only language version.

It's not that weird really, in holland a lot of people don't have credit cards either. The sole reason people have them is to order stuff from abroad, they don't use them for anything other then that ...
|
SC2 Release: Battle.Net = 60€ Amazon = 38€ GameStop/MediaMarkt etc = 38€
Will be the same with D3. Just wait for the release and Amazon etc will lower the price, because they always want to sell for the lowest price.
@Credit-Card PayPal > CreditCards. CreditCards are just the most retarded paying-method ever, I don't get why people use it.
|
I actually very interested in the topic, so please don't lose track on this thread, but I just have to...
no credit cards?! wtf? So you guys go to the bank once a month and carry huge amounts off cash around to pay stuff? How do you pay larger amounts, like when you buy a computer, or a phone, expensive clothes etc? Or how does it work? I'm very curious.
|
We have EC-Cards. No idea how they are called in English. But you can pay with them in every store. You put your EC-Card in the stores cardreader, put in your PIN and the money gets transfered. But the difference is, you don't get a bill at the end of the month, so you can't take on debt with it. You need to have money on your Bank-account to pay with the EC-Cards. Thats why germans don't have like 20.000$ debt per person. We don't buy things on credit!
|
Ah like a debit card (only pay with money you HAVE). Makes sense.
|
Pretty much everyone in western Europe uses debit cards rather than credit cards. They come with your bank account, so that's easy. Obviously they avoid the debt-issue of credit cards, although some bank accounts allow you to go into the negative to a certain limit, at a relatively high interest rate.
Plenty of people to have a credit card, but they only use it for purchases from foreign websites. Often the limit on the CC is quite low as well.
|
Yep, in Poland the concept of credit cards is pretty much laughable, seing as virtually everyone have a debit card and make all transactions with it. Wheter it's paying for your bread of your 50 inch tv.
|
I heard some where that the usa diablo3 is like 60$? (can someone comfirm) casue last time i check for d3 in aus its like 80+ which is a complete WTF seeing how the australian dollar is doing so good (so close to the american) so i really dont get how our prices are plus 20$ (shipping maybe???) p.s these are non-preorder prices

ah, ok. I'm a bit less scandalised then.
but my visa card is the same, that I can only pay if I got money on the account, but I can use it to pay for things online internationally. maybe the germans just have some special funny standard that isn't really supported outside germany? edit: rereading some previous posts, is it only UK that require debit cards? I'm not sure I've used my visa to buy stuff from UK, although I think I did at some point. While less scandalised, I'm still confused.

Newegg has a $10 off promotion for Diablo 3 pre-orders right now
|
Debit and credit cards, pretty much the same general concept in all countries. Though using your credit card for some small purchases doesn't hurt as it helps to boost that credit report, of course only if you can pay it back
|
Some Germans have credit cards but as a general rule I would say most don't. In restaurants for example you almost always pay cash, the majority of places don't even have facilities for an EC card(eftpos/standard bank card). I'm not really sure why they don't use credit cards, maybe because you HAVE to pay them off every month so there's no real point..or it could just be because (gross generalisation coming) most Germans are kinda stingy??
|
Amazon.co.uk has it for 28 GBP. Other game retailers have it in the price range of 30-34 GBP, which I think is a very good deal.

If you pay with EC-Cards or stuff like this most people pay the exact price, not more. Thats the restaurant part... the other side, i guess germans are a little smarter than americans and dont buy stuff they normally dont have money for. Sure. I wouldn't buy it from BNet. 60€ is just way too expensive. But you have to choose your seller smart, if you want to start at 0:00 (us local time)

so does anybody know if there is anywhere i can buy d3 below the 60 euro price of blizzard? 60 euro is kinda too much ;/

For one reason or another Diablo 3 costs 60 dollars for americans while it costs 80 for europeans when bought online. does anyone actually understand a reason for this ? my country isn't in the european union even so any of those tariffs should not apply.

I have found a Taiwan version for a price of $40. I think I may just switch my Bnet accout from SEA to Taiwan, download the client and play.
What I want to ask is, can you switch the language freely since the client from Taiwan will be Traditional Chinese. Also, is the game still there once I switch my Bnet account back to where I am actually is?
EDIT: NVm, you can't switch your region freely now -_-.
I can get a boxed version for $50 but only after one week from release T_T. Guess i will have to opt for OVERPRICE digital version which I feel really unfair since the boxed version also come with an diablo mousepad + a T shirt and a poster O_O.

Amazon always the best - at least the UK one - and they do ship to Europe. £32
Edit: that is, presuming you don't want it at midnight, but then, my exams start at 15th so I won't be playing until 25th anyway D:

According to a study published by the German federal bank in 2009, credit cards make up for 3.6% of the total amount of money transferred and 1.4% of all financial transactions. So, yes, this is ridiculously low, but I believe it might be a matter of generations. CCs are being handed out to students and young adults without non-transaction-related fees, and as has been pointed out by some, since they're often necessary for ordering stuff from outside Germany, they're becoming more and more common.
On the topic at hand, I am also kinda appalled by the price range the game is being offered for. Still unsure whether to wait a few weeks and hope for a good discounted offer or just go with the flow that seems to often see AAA titles from the top 3 publishers at these prices.

I assume it has much to do with EC -Cards (Eurocheque) you get for free with your bank account. In Germany it's usually the EC-Card you use to pay when you don't have cash on you. This concept is not used in other countries as much. So basically EC-Card replaces Credit Card for the most part in Germany.
However, I wouldn't venture to say nobody has a CC. Many people have one, but use it mostly for foreign-country transactions.
Fun fact: When using a German CC in a foreign country, you are often not required to use your PIN with it, but simply sign the bill. This is because Germans use their CCs so rarely that they are not expected to know their PIN.
On topic: Amazon.co.uk currently prices D3 with 32,91 Pounds. That is around 40€. Even shipping included still cheaper than Amazon.de.
Of course you'd need a CC for that.

off topic. I am german. I've had a credit card since im 16 (11 years). same for all my friends. dunno what you are talking about. anybody who ever wants to buy something online, book a trainticket, a flight, a hotel ... needs a credit card. so ofc everybody has one.

tip for people in the UK: mcdonald is running their usual monopoly thingy at this time one of the thing you can win is a 5£ coupon for play.com (play.com usualy has quite cheap offers) play.com is already cool with diablo3 (on par with amazon), so with this coupon and free delivery it's quite a good deal i went twice to mcdonal in the last month and both time got a 5£ coupon, so i guess it's pretty common i suggest you try, nerds love mcdonald anyway
i'm waiting for using my coupon (they last till august anyway) for diablo3, like others, i believe price might go down by a bit before release, that should be a great deal in the end

If you want to play on midnight, then digital is your safest bet. However, paying £12 more doesn't seem like a good idea, simply because for £45 you can buy both Diablo 2 and 3 from Amazon ;D. Not worth it, I'll be waiting for my copy from Amazon, since I won't have time to play it during the week anyway.

This site is super legit. I've bought several, very cheap CD keys from them in the past. In some cases, ridiculously cheap (I bought a russian Dead Island key for like $18 on release date, and the steam key still let me register and play it as a European copy).
They also usually ship the key immediately when they actually have the boxes (this is probably because it's still a relatively small shop). This means that if you're lucky, they will send you the key even the day before release. But usually you should have it sometime on the release day. If you feel like they forgot to send you your key immediately, you can write up their live support on the page and they'll usually ship it immediately after your talk.
If you want to play at midnight on the 15th, you should ask them on their facebook page when D3 will be available:

I'd rather buy from blizz directly. As its 60$ as well and that site cost you 63$ for key only as well and you dont even know when its coming? Weird Chinese gaming key site.

I just bought it from gameladen.com for 45€. It should be legit, i got my WoW keys from there without a problem. They even guarantee to ship the key 1-2 days before the release and if the price drops before the game is out they reimburse you for the difference. My fingers are crossed.

if i buy it from amazon.co.uk i get it for 39€ but im not sure how i should get it over here

Unless you live in europe, in which case it suddenly changed to 60€, which is quite a bit more. Especially as hard copies in stores only cost 52€ over here.

I preordered it for 35€ at zavvi.com. Early buyers were able to get it for even less than 30€ there.
It seems the UK has by far the lowest game prices in the EU for some reason.

This question might warrant it's own topic, but it's related enough to the OP that I'm not quite certain about that.
Now this might be a total confabulation on my part, but when SC2 came out didn't Blizzard have a system in place where if you pre-ordered a physical copy of the game you received a code or something on your receipt that you could use to pre-install the digital version of the game so that when you picked your boxed copy up you wouldn't have to wait through the installation? Or so you wouldn't have to wait for the game to ship and arrive? It might have only been if you pre-ordered the boxed copy from their storefront, but I think they did something like that.
My question is: are they doing something similar for Diablo 3? I'm about to pre-order it, but I can't decide between getting the boxed copy or digital. I'd like to have the third game in one of my all-time favorite series on my shelf, but I know I'd also like to remove the waiting for arrival/installation.

I don't think you even need a pre-order, at least my friend just linked me to a site that I'm pretty sure was official and I could download the installer and install the game just fine. Can't recall the exact site but got this from google and the sources seem pretty legit to me.

Too bad you ended up with paying 12 months of WoW subscription when all you'll be playing is Diablo 3 ! :þ

The install client isn't tied to your pre-order. Sure you won't have the link to the download on your battlenet account if you order the box but you can still download the client (see the third post above mine or google). So you can just download the d3 client in advance and install the game and when you get your box you just use it to create your d3 account. In retrospective this is what I would have done but I got so excited that I pre-order the online version right away when it became available.

My boxed version got delayed for like a week wtf -_-.
I want to buy a cd-key now, anyone know a legit site that sell legit key? I read thru the whole thread and all I can find is this http://www.ultimatumgamekeys.de and they sell them for $64 as pricey as digital download from Blizzard.
|
Lots of shops in Australia selling for $59 while blizz charges something like $80 for online! They get cheap import from US but that doesn't take into account the higher cost of living over here, which is factored into the blizzstore price - cheap cheap!

I got lucky, my store made a clear mistake
It should have been 50€, but it was 40€. And I have specific coupons (get a 12€ coupon for 10€) for that store. So I only paid 34€
|
Got mine at a dutch game store for 46 euros + a free steelseries mousemat :O
|
doesnt amazon have best price guarantee ? i mean it says 54 but now they write me i will get money back cause of the best price guarantee

If someone finds a cd-key or copy for 40-50 USD, tell me... lol
|
Got it in Belgium for 39 Euro, cheap but those were selling like bread and water :D
|
i need online website, for cd-key only, do you know where are the best prices right now?
|
Honestly the best prices are all around blizzard's price as far as I can see, at least for right now. So if you just want the key, you might as well buy it from blizzard.
|
Got mine for 38 Euro (key) in pre-order. Now the price went up
|
Right coolshop is shit, still didn't get my copy, angry e-mail sent.
Are pre-orders seriously meant to be mailed on 14th as thats what they did.

I just bought diablo 3 through the blizzard store online(digital purchase) anyone know when I can expect the key?
|
I ended up purchase a key from Ultimatum Game for $64.5. Finally D3 here I come. @Recognizable: If you purchase directly from Blizzard, there is no key needed. D3 has already been added to your game in your Bnet account. Just install D3 and log in with your Bnet account and you are good to go.

The money has already been transfered, I didn't pay with a credit card but with some european equivalent, thru ''Ideal''. Which means the money is sent to them directly the moment I press ok. I am not the only one with this problem :/

That shit doesn't work here, stores put all games in hard plastic casings.
Also it's 38 euros or 60 usd here. And thank god for that. I can't stand battle.net's policy that 1 usd = 1 euro.
