HLTV's ranking was just finalized. Thoughts?

I actually agree almost completely with it. The top three is spot on. GeT_RiGhT, flusha and pasha were by far the most consistent players of the major tournaments. You can debate which of the three had the better year, but ultimately, NiP was by far the most successful team in the majors, and GeT_RiGhT *always* ascended to beastly levels in the semifinals and finals.
KennyS's position seems to be the most controversial. He has been amazing, but his stats are probably a bit inflated due to often exiting tournaments in early stages.

I personally find it hard to believe that no French player is in the top 5. 2 of VP + 2 of Fnatic in top 5 but Shox and Kenny at 8 & 6 is kind of a joke. Seems like regional bias against France to snub their top 2 in such a fashion. Kenny is waaaaaaaaay better than Pasha, and Shox is definitely better than Snax.
Also, only one American player in the top 20? HLTV plz.

Rankings seemed completely arbitrary. If they are going to include variables such as results and impact, pronax not being on the list is an absolute tragedy.
Poor France though.

Poor France though. Yeah, they put Happy at 10?! but pronax is absent, rofl.

Pasha is not top 5. Doubt he's even top 10. And im a big fan too.
GTR isnt top 3 either.
But yeah their scoring system seems to be completely whacked out bullshit so its no surprise their rankings mirror that.

what people forget about this list is that it's all of 2014, not just the latter part. If you add up everyones ratings on lan, and divide it by the amount of lans Paszas rating ends up being 3rd overall, even if the later portion of 2014 he wasn't as good. I think this list was pretty good, but I'm not an expert so i guess my opinion doesnt matter.
Edit: GTR ends up in 2nd, and Flusha 1st using that same method.

That's also an incomplete way to rank players.

Meh, can't say im happy with the ranking.

the whole rankings i considered a joke, when i saw kennys not in the top 3

The whole ranking is too much based on team achievements instead of individual skill.

I think a top 20 is far too many players to include in a individual ranking of a team game. I'd much rather see rankings divided into best caller, best entry fragger, etc.

On pure merit, KennyS takes it easily. Simply was the BEST player in 2014. GTR was a shadow of his former self this year, didn't deserve to get #1. Then again, it also speaks to how much of a freak GTR was in 2013, he was absolutely ridiculous.
Honestly, #2 spot should have then gone to Snax. Was an absolute beast as a clutcher, ridiculous numbers of clutches won. Then GTR.

kennys merit? Sure his team wasn't great but he wasn't exactly great beyond the groupstages of most tournaments himself. His stats are massively skewed, because he hardly ever played in the latter stages of a tournament.
For me GTR is actually fine as number one considering Forest took a nosedive this year and NIP as a team struggled as a whole. Yet struggling NIP still won 3 major titles largely thanks to GTR. Which is something you can't say about many players.
