He didn't fail in Korea. And I don't know if there is someone like "the best foreigner". IdrA, Jinro all still manage to lose in tournaments. TLO is really good. And used nukes in GSL.
IIRC he would have been in Code A whether he qualified for GSL3 or not. In fact had he qualified for GSL3 he may have been in code S. I'd have to go back to his numbers and look. I'm 99% positive him and idra lost in the same rounds (ro64 in GSL 1 or 2 and then a ro32 in the other GSL), and idra had the extra ro32 finish to put him into code S.
Also on topic gogo TLO <33
EDIT: nvm wrong about his finishes but right about his points. He would have been in Code A either way (according to the liquipedia page)

Why do so many people dismiss TLO as a player? He's really, really good - and apart from the time that he was having serious trouble with carpal tunnel, he's been really succesful (winning the pokeridol and qualifying for the TSL). There seems to be such an obsession with playing a style that's considered 'standard' that anyone who sometimes does other styles gets dismissed as a player, no matter how skilled. lol his playstyle? I dont even know his playstyle.. I stopped watching him after the beta. I mean during that, sure he was exciting as hell. Loved looking up youtube vids of him etc. But after that... never saw him place well in major tournaments. =/ So I just stopped following him, started following other players instead. JUST saying. How can you quote someone who explains some of his achievements to you ( qualifying as pointleader for TSL, pokeridol win) and answer to that that you never saw him place well in tournaments?? Besides, before he left Korea he was as succesful as Idra in GSL and the Koreans's dear. With his two ro32 appearences he would have gotten got S, you know...
Actually he had one ro32 and one ro64, so definitely not code S, he would have needed ro16 or ro32 in s3, and his play seemed to be going downhill after season 1.

It's pretty cool, as someone who's followed MLG pretty much since its inception, to have TLO up next to Tsquared. Tsquared was like their first big star in halo, he had the biggest contract when MLG started doing those, so on and so forth. This is just another sign that MLG is really giving SC2 some major love, hope the fans can step up and reciprocate it! Basically yes. As someone else who's also followed MLG for ages, it's quite a statement by MLG to find an individual sponsorship for an SC2 player along with someone like Tsquared (although I think Walshy and the Ogre twins might have something to say about the "first big star in Halo" assertion :D). TLO has broad appeal, a huge following, and is a top foreigner player -- it's easy to see why Sony Ericsson went with him. Congrats TLO! :D t2 in ins makes me lol still haha. I agree with this too though, TLO and t2 getting a sponsorship together is kinda big.

Incoming TLO playing sc2 on the Xperia PLAY!! Sony ftw!

Is there anybody that doesn't love TLO!? I'm happy to hear that he is getting sponsored by Sony Ericsson.

Nice TLO, way to get them sponsors!

I wonder why people hate on the ONLY player who had medical (read: carpel tunnel + bout with chicken box) issues in his career that significantly reduces his performance. It's like, saying to someone "why don't you run at full speed" after they mildly strained a quad earlier in a football game.
TLO is hugely entertaining to watch and on top he's a really good face for the game. He's insightful, successful (why else is he in TSL) and eloquent, I can hardly imagine anyone else that brings the entire package he possesses.

I'm the exact opposite. I thought he was creative but way way overrated in the beta. Now he's become a lot more solid and is a nice representative of international e-sports.

I don't think many do hate TLO, just think his gimmicky play style isn't going to get him far. In my opinion he did well earlier on because people didn't have near the knowledge of the game and he came up with a lot of interesting builds. As time goes on, this style becomes less effective. He must know this and thats why hes changing into more macro oriented. I'm all for TLO doing well, he provides interesting games, but I would rather cheer for someone who can provide results. I am more consistently disappointed in his games than the other way around.

His last few games in the GCPL has been very underwhelming, but hey qualifying for TSL with highest amount of point aint bad either. Hope he choose a race and improves his game.
