So Boxer was right.

In order to be successful, you have to have both the skill and most importantly the ability to use that skill to entertain the fans. If you achieve that, you will gather attention, which will attract personal sponsorships and lead to a successful career.

I am pretty sure he said that in his past interviews, including the TSL pre-game interview.

Say what you want about Boxer's skill level, but the man remains as the one and only who transcended the game itself and became something larger than the game that he plays.

Love it. Keep in mind that if Sony sponsors TLO's trips and accomodation for all MLG events, this loosens up a couple of thousand bucks in Liquid'TLAF's budget that they can now spend on travel costs for even more events!

Ah, this must one of the reasons that he chose to go to MLG instead of try for the GSL World Champions.

It's pretty cool, as someone who's followed MLG pretty much since its inception, to have TLO up next to Tsquared. Tsquared was like their first big star in halo, he had the biggest contract when MLG started doing those, so on and so forth. This is just another sign that MLG is really giving SC2 some major love, hope the fans can step up and reciprocate it!

This is great news. It's about time TLO got serious.
And to add, do you think Liquid needs those cool jackets that all korean teams wear? Would be awesome to see TLO with sponsor logos all over him.

it doesn't really, it shows IdrA is really smart and realises there's more money to be made by winning "easier" tournaments. Anyway I'll stop derailing this thread now.

Grats to TLO, without a doubt a great entertainer, TLO draws the crowd that's what Sony wants to promote their stuff, there's few who fit that slot besides TLO.

Easily the best personality in e-sports to sponsor, congrats!

Why do so many people dismiss TLO as a player? He's really, really good - and apart from the time that he was having serious trouble with carpal tunnel, he's been really succesful (winning the pokeridol and qualifying for the TSL). There seems to be such an obsession with playing a style that's considered 'standard' that anyone who sometimes does other styles gets dismissed as a player, no matter how skilled.

Makes a lot of sense. Known in KR from GSL, NA from TL, and he's from EU. He speaks really well, is consistently funny and good mannered, and speaks German & English. He's a marketer's ideal candidate.

Basically yes. As someone else who's also followed MLG for ages, it's quite a statement by MLG to find an individual sponsorship for an SC2 player along with someone like Tsquared (although I think Walshy and the Ogre twins might have something to say about the "first big star in Halo" assertion :D).

TLO has broad appeal, a huge following, and is a top foreigner player -- it's easy to see why Sony Ericsson went with him. Congrats TLO! :D
