The only problem I really foresee with her alternately casting with Tasteless and Artosis is that they both have very set roles when casting and it is going to be almost double work for Kelly filling the shoes of the missing half of the archon on alternate days. As far as I'm concerned gom has a track record of making good hiring decisions and I'll wait to see a few series before deciding one way or another.

To everyone worried about them(Kelly + Tastosis) not having any chemistry, give it some time and it will be there. They will be afterall working with each other alot! lol... Dan and Nick have known each other for years and have commentated before, so that statement does not make sense.

Honestly, I had shut everything out and focus on her voice to comprehend what she was saying. We all know Tastosis didn't happen over night, but you need to have a solid foundation to build upon, which is what she is lacking. -Good Luck-

I think the problem with the lack of Tastosis "chemistry" back in season 1 was probably due to Tasteless's blatant lack of game knowledge back then. Watching those old casts, it's apparent that though Tasteless and Artosis cast well together, Tasteless seems to have less useful game knowledge compared to Artosis. Also, Tasteless was the English stream observer back then, so he probably had a hard time managing the observing in addition to provide relevant commentary to a game that he had less experience in compared to BW. Fortunately, Tasteless's commentary has improved tremendously by leaps and bounds over the seasons, though Artosis is still by far the more analytical commentator.

I believe Gom's choice of her as a caster has to do with the belief that having a female caster seems to be a popular choice among it's local fans, however, the international and korean scene are quite different. In korea, even sc2 is a game directed towards casual people who don't understand the game fully. Their casts are full of excitement, hiding information and making the last battle into a large spectacle. They can afford this because it is entertainment as a game, however, almost all international fans have a deep seeded interest in the game itself. When we watch a cast we want to know exactly what is going on at all times. We want to see the drops before they occur, we want to know their build ahead of time. Kelly is meant as a caster not to be someone who brings knowledge or understanding to the game (she is a plat player), but to bring excitement to the game that is not present in code A matches due to the high number of bad games. It is an experiment. I'm sure GOM will go through several casters before finding a match, so they want to see what works and what doesn't. Gom's only fault is engaging the community before making a decision. When companies like ESPN or ABC decide to bring on a new caster they have to do market studies to see the effects. They have to see if the caster fits the market audience. For example, FOX brings joe buck for the world series who is a terrible caster, but he is popular in his speaking abilities and therefore they sacrifice game knowledge for entertainment. That being said, I don't think kelly is as bad as everyone is making her out to be. She obviously has some problems formulating english sentences and when she gets excited her accent comes out more since she isn't actively thinking about it. I'm sure she will spend hours beforehand practicing casting in order to improve herself before she goes live. I think her biggest thing is to not get overly excited. When she is speaking normally she is fine, but when she gets overanxious about something then she starts to speak unintelligibly. The other thing is that she should focus on casting not commentating. Since she doesn't have a huge understanding of the game she doesn't want to make herself look silly when she predicts the wrong thing. Tastosis predict incorrectly sometimes, but then they are able to explain what the player did right/wrong. At kelly's level of understanding, she won't be able to do this so it would be better if she just describes what is going on instead of predicting the strategy of each player. For example, instead of saying someone is doing a certain build she should say something like "Now we can see the terran is building a second barracks. This usually signals an agressive build" instead of something like "The terran is going for a 2 rax all-in, we should see the scvs being pulled" since the first statement is safe, generic and is still helpful. I wish her the best of luck and that she proves everyone wrong to the point where there is a kellymilkies fanclub with thousands of fans.

You do understand that a few of the Code A players could win the GSL... Squirtle DIDN'T lose 1 game until he face Nestea after destroying Mvp. This is a setback for GOM, and believe me when I say they feel it... And they should...

I only watched 3-4 code A games (based on the poll in the TL thread) and the code A finals. The problem isn't that code A is full of bad players, but that the games are usually really really lopsided.

For the time being, Tasteless and Artosis will take turns casting with Kelly "kellyMILKIES"

He is probably my favorite caster by far, has a deep understanding of the game and can generally make the game exciting. Matching him is a difficult task given that many of the people in a similar situation to him are not nearly as effective at communicating to an audience. I just want to say that was an awesome post and probably the ideal response to the situation. Hopefully people following your example. I've already commented in the other thread about what I think about this hiring decision so I only want to add that I really respect the way GOM is handling this. I feel that it's apparent in their statement that they saw the negative feedback (there were posts from gom members in the previous thread) and constructed a statement to reassure everyone. Everything they've done so far for SC2 has been positive and that should give them some sort of benefit of the doubt, even if it's just acknowledging that if she does do a bad job they'll quickly rectify the situation. I'm not a fan of the decision but I really hope she does a great job as I'm purchasing my ticket no matter what.

The preemptive whining is pretty damn childish, a lot of people are spoiled with the fact that GOM actually gives a damn about its foreign audience in the first place. If she doesn't work out she doesn't work out and im sure GOM will do whats right for its fans, the whiners are probably the same people who post in the GSL thread that code A is stupid/boring or dont even watch it in the first place. Its funny coming from the same community that goes ga ga over the whole e sports following your dream ideals like johns speech, but someone gets her shot and you shoot her down before she even gets a damn chance. Yes she has an accent, im partially deaf and i can make out what she is saying fine through my garbage 20 dollars Logitech headset. Stop being lazy and its really not that bad, im sure shes not the first person you have met with an accent, and she probably wont be your last either.
