It's like saying "Why doesn't Obama cast code A, he would be an excellent caster!". So as long as these individuals won't be making a statement this thread will be nothing but flame, accusations, idiocy and just as useless as the other one. Heh, if Obama knew a lot about StarCraft he would probably be a pretty awesome caster. I think you're talking about something else than the thread is. I agree that, if we're purely talking about the decision making process, the thread is useless since we don't have tons of info. However, we're not. We're talking about what the actual chosen person is like. Yes, there is flaming and accusations along with all of that fun stuff that always pops up on the Internet, but there is some actual meat here.

Neither this one nor the other one is useless. This is feedback. GOM has picked a caster that most of us don't have a good experience with. Many of us, me included, honestly don't understand half of what she's saying. This is a Serious problem, and very much so worth a thread on TL imo.

as for how good she is at her job, i'll wait until the code A games begin before judging too harshly.

We'll see, chemistry takes time to develop, if she does indeed become a permanent fixture of Code A casting, I'll make my judgement for April GSL's Code A games. the last time I tuned into her channel, she was pretty irritating its like shes hogging the mic 75% of the time when the co-caster desperately wants to say 25% of his share. then during a game, she will talk about random shit like candles, how protoss is overpowered, how she thinks this guy shouldnt do this because she did it and it failed etc

THIS. One of the best posts I've read so far.

As someone that's trying to break into the broadcasting business myself, I'm always happy to see someone get their break. I'm hopeful that mine is right around the corner. I wish Kelly well and hope she does an amazing job. With that being said, I'm not a fan of her selection at this time. I've lived in the U.S. my entire life and have friends with all sorts of different accents. However, I for the life of me cannot understand more than half of what she says. I've watched her live streams before, I've seen some clips of her VODs and it's really a 50-50 crapshoot on whether I can understand the words she is saying. That is a problem for me if I'm going to pay for another GSL season. I want to be able to listen and enjoy a cast and frankly be lazy during it. I don't want to have to think about what is being said, much less whether what is being said is correct or not. I don't care if GOM hired the worst English speaking caster in the world, as long as I can understand them, I can get over it. I enjoy watching the foreigners play the top Koreans, that's the main reason I personally watch the GSL. With as many foreigners as are playing in the Code A tournament, I was really looking forward to it and it was a no-brainer that I would get the pass. I loved the January season pass and was definitely interested in getting it again. However, if I can't understand half of what is being said, I question whether it would be in my best interests to purchase the pass. With my favorite player, IdrA, no longer playing, and the addition of a caster who I can't understand commentating all the foreigner games (except Jinro), it's made this decision a lot tougher than it should be. Sadly the games will stream live for me at like 3 a.m. every day so I won't be able to watch the free live streams very often. I may just see how the first game or two goes on Monday and if it's ok, purchase the season pass on Tuesday. I hate feeling conflicted about it but I can't watch on mute if I'm paying for it. Oh well, guess I'll just have to think more about it. Sorry for the rambling but I needed somewhere to vocalize my thoughts and get some input. Thanks for reading and good luck to Kelly, hope she does great! Really well thought-out post, and I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiments. I wish Kelly luck, but she is fighting incredible odds. GOM's hiring manager needs meet with his or her boss: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=194113#1 The only reason I can think of for hiring her instead of someone who has more game knowledge, speaks more clearly, and at a more fluent pace is because she is a girl. Sex sells, but only if the functional difference is negligible. Sorry if I seem rude. We will see with the first few games how she does. She has time to prepare... perhaps she can improve her casting and game knowledge.

As for the accent, you can choose to not listen to it or choose to get used to it. =S.. haha who knows, she might actually catch on to the american accent considering theres not many singaporeans to talk to in korea =p. anyway, ill give it a few weeks to really judge her performance! all the best kelly!

Not only was I not impressed with how bad her game knowledge seemed to be in a couple of random youtube videos I picked, I hated her accent. She's really on the level of Husky and totalbiscuit which is what I'd consider the bottom tier of SC2 casters, they usually appeal to the LCD in my personal experiences at least in the case of Husky and TB. So honestly, as a person who want's casters who actually know how to cast since I'm staying up until 5 AM to watch these matches, I don't agree with their decision. Honestly if you think Husky or TB are the bottom tier of SC2 casters I'd say you're pretty deluded. Unless you mean the bottom tier of 'known' casters. In either case she clearly has broadcast experience, I know I'll be watching code A to see the chemistry with Tasteless or Artosis. Even if its hilariously bad it should still be entertainig e: English is my 4th language and I understand her fine, whats wrong with you people (I speak no asian languages)

Does this mean that Kelly will be solo casting one day with Tastosis taking on the next? Or does this mean we'll see a Kelly/Artosis -> Tastosis -> Kelly/Tasteless rotation? Also, no Torch? :o I for one will definitely watch Code A to support the foreigners. ^_^

Im sure if there was a caster with a singaporian accent (or however you spell it sorry) who we could understand clearly when speaking moderatly fast it would be accepted, but from the examples ive seen she just sounds like shes talking gibberish are ridiculous speeds made worse by an accent not many are used to.

Totally... why hire a Swedish person with no English knowledge whatsoever.. You can either choose to not listen to it or to get used to it. People don't understand what she's saying, that's the biggest problem.

The problem there was not their chemistry but tasteless having to control the cam. Tasteless was mostly repeating what artosis said or just saying random jokes instead of what hes doing now. Meh, guess I will just stick to code S. I'm from the same country so I understand her fine but I just find her voice annoying for some reason. Definitely hoped for Torch, was impressed by what little commentating he did.
