I find it completely absurd that the winner doesn't get an automatic by into Code S. I mean, the whole point of the up and down match system is to prove that you're one of the better A players, and who's better than the winner of the entire tournament?
And no trophy? I mean, come on! I don't know if anyone here watches motocross/supercross, but the Lites class (125cc, 250f) where the younger guys work their way into a decent sponsorship still rewards a damn big trophy and a respectable purse for the top finishers.
There needs to be more incentive to win Code A, otherwise people will just put in enough effort to get to the Up/Down and then drop their effort (and subsequent entertainment value of the match) towards the finals.

The problem is that if you let the winner of Code A get the spot of the worst Code S player, you will have to figure out who exactly the worst Code S player is. Therefore imho the current system is fine.
I do however agree that the Code A should get more recognition in the form of more prize money and a trophy.

I don't have any problems with the Code A winner not getting automatically up to Code S. If he is any good he should win quite easily, especially since he got to choose who to play against. I think those matches are really interesting to watch, since so much is at stake for the players.

Automatic promotion into code S would screw up the current Code S format as who would he swap with from Code S? The current format is working fine and is really entertaining..
Code A needs more prize money though - to encourage people from outside Korea to take the plunge and go to Korea there needs to be some serious incentive..

That's it for his entire month of hard work and overcoming all.
No trophy, no seeding into Code S, no recognition.
Like, there is no motivation for getting first place. The final of Code A is about as consequential as the final of WCG Korea, in which the champion gets only bragging rights.
If Code A winner got bigger prizes than Code S last placing players, then those "bad" players might want to lose on purpose on Code S, to gain the possibility of rolling Code A players and have a better chance at winning the prize than on Code S, this would completely mess up the system, so I agree with what they're doing, even if it IS kinda sad.
Or even WORSE, once I win Code A, I'll lose on purpose on the up and down matches, and roll the Code A all over again, sounds awful. Maybe a trophy though, for some emotional value.

This. Technically (going by points, obviously it's not the same in practice right now) the bottom Code S player should be better than the top Code A player. If you combine the two codes into one then the top Code A player would be 33rd overall.
Looking at it this way, it's perfectly understandable why ogsJookto would get the same prize money as ogsTOP. Although I can also see the other side, given that Jookto played only 2 games to be eliminated and receive his prize money, whereas TOP had to play several sets against different players in order to receive his.

imo the collection of these tvt's definitely bestest the one tvt between jinro and ensnare. while that game was beyond epic, this code a final was definitely the most educational.
|
This is not surprising at all, oGsTOP is clearly one of the most solid Korean Terrans out there.

Picking who to play against to get into code S is almost as good as getting a free ticket into code S, anyway >.>
Win code A = 1k, but you also get a near-free ticket to get into code S which is MINIMUM 1k each season.
