Actually, it will be a protoss buff I think. If you think 4 gate is dumb, wait for 4 gate with proxy pylons on a huge map where the opponent needs to run miles to get to your base, while your warping in in his.

After finally realizing how boring the same size maps over and over again are I looked into how the rest of the community felt about the maps and what I found was: Larger More Expos NEW ANYTHING PLEASE GOD WHY. And even though the ladder probably won't change >< at least other tournies can use these as acceptable "known" maps. That way players will know which addition maps to practice. Thank you GSL.

Zerg is safer earlier, toss can really take advantage of their warp in, and terran will be able to build huge mech armies off of multiple gas, while being able to use 2 seige tanks to defend an expo where other races need armies.

Korean 4 gate warp in can be quite 'early'.

Its more about easily defendable naturals than distance when it comes to holding off a 4 gate. PvP will still be a cluster fuck but hey being able to use static D is a good thing.

If you kill the pylon and probe, it will take much longer for a new probe to come and plant a new pylon. It requires a bit more scouting for the probe/pylon but if you catch a Toss offguard and get them both on a large map the rush is over more or less. Also it seems that most Toss players favor 16 Nex or Forge FE's on large maps. Shakuras is an example of a Blizz map showing the same thing, as well as customs have shown this too. You can also be more liberal with your overlord placement. You can get vision over your section of the map quite easily (to probe/pylon scout). If the Protoss hunts down all your ovies it will take them forever to actually attack as they will be spread further compared to the smaller maps like Steppes.
