^ Was "t3h shit" back in '08, no game out i want to play that i can't max out yet so i'll probably be good 'til Q4 '11 & Sandy Bridge when one or two playworthy DX11 titles may be out. The only component i've updated to post-'08 is the SSD which was well worth it
When the time comes to upgrade this system will still make for a bitchin' HTPC and the horsepower may be needed for 3D blurays, who knows? Given that overclocking is a hobby as well, i feel the money was well spent.

I'm always the last one to load in every game and suffer from stutters/mini freezes every game as it seems to be loading stuff as I play.
Will be upgrading in a few weeks to: OS: Windows 7 CPU: Athlon II x3 435 RAM: 2GB DDR3@1600 GPU: Radeon HD 5750 Res: 1680x1050 Ultra detail Looking forward to this like nothing else. I'll finally be able to play SC2 with everything maxed out, as well as loads of other new games. A tip is to get at least 4 GB RAM if you gonna run Windows 7... 2 GB is really not enough. I guess that computer COULD run at max settings, but you wouldn't get over 30 FPS. Still, with the previous computer you played with, I don't think you'll care lol.

My rig is the following Intel Core2Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3ghz 4GB 800mhz nvidia ram Geforce 8600 GTS Windows 7 Prem
I'm hoping my rig can run this game with full power, I don't plan to play any other games asides from old school BW and SC2.

The E8400 is good but the 8600GTS is a bit underpowered to run on full, but you can def run the game.

So can anyone explain to me why i used to play without frame drops. Hundreds of games and in low diamond league. And now every game the framerate drops to 1 mid game.
Nothing changed that i know off. I have 15gb free on windows disk, and 15 gb free on sc2disk. I defragged. Even losed the antivir and used msconfig to unstart a lot of stuff.
It used to play fine on lowest settings on a 7300gt 1gb 64x2 3800+
I know that's not very impressing and i could do with 1gb more of ram and a slightly better video card. But how come it used to work and now not anymore?

Your computer is probably overheating, I had the same problem. Download GPU-Z, and if your computer is indeed overheating download Riva Tuner and turn your fan to max and open up your tower to clean out the dust build up that would probably be causing said overheating

Many people go out and buy the latest and greatest cards, but don't realize that a good graphics card needs to be supported by a good CPU and Powersupply. Otherwise it runs the risk of being bottlenecked, or not being fed enough power. With that in mind I would recommend anything on this list ABOVE the 9800GT if you want to play Starcraft 2 at High Quality and not take hits to your FPS. I'm running SC2 at very high quality with an E8400 @ 3.0Ghz (thus not overclocked) with a 8800 GTS2 (512MB) and I'm getting constant 80fps with no drops during big battles. (sometimes drop down to 65 but it really doesn't matter).
As a matter of fact, I'm streaming with that setup and am able to pump out 20 fps at HD quality (1280*720).

Handles SC2 without even a flinch. All Ultra with Extreme shaders. Even UMS's with thousands of units are unable to crack the FPS.

Windows 7 64 bit AMD X2 2.0 ghz (4000 ghz) 4GB RAM geforce 8600 gt
I play on lowest settings. Resolution is 32 bit on lowest resolution. 1vs1 and 2vs2 work fine. 2vs2 lags in maxed battles that happen on twilight fortress but this doesn't happen often. It lags frequently for battles 3vs3 and I can't micro my units at all sometimes and I've only played one game of 4vs4 that went well because the army counts were kept down.

I wondering what is the bottleneck for my computer. 1v1's are usually okay, but generally 2v2 and 3v3 I turn on ally control because I can no longer micro units, even macroing is a chore and in one 3v3 game I spent just under a minute clicking, trying to make the screen move.
I run on lowest settings, limiting fps to 60- but I have one cloak setting turned on because I kept losing my observers.

OS: Windows XP professional Cpu: E8500 Mobo: Gigabyte EP45 Memory: 4gb Mushkin redline DDR2 1600 Graphics: XFX 5770 Hard Drives: Old Raptor 74gb PSU: Corsair TX650
High/Ultra at 1680x1050 but I never close Opera and my 400 open youtube videos, Foobar and Vent.
OS: Windows XP Pro Cpu: Amd 3800(? this thing is like 6 years old rofl) Mobo: Some old DFI Memory: 1GB Mushkin redline (old lulz) Graphics: EVGA 9800gt Hard Drives: whatever I can find around rofl PSU: OCZ modstream 450
I dont know but Im hoping I can play medium at 800x600

I don't believe 800x600 is an option, but both of your computers will be able to play high at lower resolutions. The 5770 should be fine all the way up to Ultra at high resolutions.
