I'll be upgrading the 4870's to 5870's for DX11 support when they become available and they sort out the heat issues for the mobile GPU's.

I mostly just went for the 920 due to how easy they are to overclock. Once my new termal paste arrives from OCZ I'll be pushing the laptop for a 14K+ 3DMark Vantage score.

meh i didnt need triple channeled, 860 is perfect for me :D

Damn you GPU bottleneck! A pity that I can't change it because it's a laptop.

Update from last post.
CPU : i7 920 c0 3841A@3.8ghz stable, can hit 4.2 with much higher volts MOBO: Gigabyte EX58-UD3R rev 1.0, going to buy a classified or rampage if I ever get extra $$$ Hard Drive: 80GB Intel X-25 SSD + 1TB WD Caviar Black RAM: 3x2GB Mushkin Ridgebacks 1600mhz GPU: 2x R5770 MSI hawks @ 975/1350 PSU: Corsair 850HX COOLING: Corsair h50 push/pull with 2 coolermaster R4 2k RPM fans Case: Coolermaster HAF 922 w/ blue 200mm's and Storm Sniper Window
Xfire 5770's beat 5870's for $100 less, and the 480 in most non-tessellation heavy benchmarks. Old heaven I did while running CPU @ stock, GPU was 1050/1400 for this though.

All I need now is a Asus Xonar Soundcard, and a better monitor :D

Windows 7 x64 Intel core2 duo at 2.0 GHz 4.00 GB ram Geforce 9600M GT 300 GB hard drive

Wonder how SC2 would run on a maxed out updated MBP?
|
You're all probably going to laugh, but this is the comp that im working with. Anyone can tell me if I'll be able to run SC2? =/
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit ATI Radeon HD 3200 Intergrated Graphics AMD Pheneom X4 9100e Quad-Core Processor 4 GB DDR2 640 GB

Should I upgrade my CPU?
OS: Win7 64bit gfx: 5770 1gig cpu: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4ghz) ram: 4gig DDR 800 Dual Channel VDU: 24" @ 1920x1200
I only just got my key but I could not wait and downloaded the beta and the crack at check out the game.
@ 1920x1200 med settings was silky smooth but as I upped the gfx the cracks started to show as more units appeared.
Do you think my CPU is the weak link?
Also any one managed to force AA on their 5770?
|
You CPU is the weak link for sure, SC2 favors quad cores. Since your on a 775 chipset you can get a used QXXX chip for pretty cheap these days. A single 5770 can run SC2 maxed pretty smoothly.
|
intel Q6600 Quad Core 2.4ghz 8gb of DDR2 corsair (i think.... :x) 1gb nVidia 260 GT (i think... ) 650 watt Corsair PSU
Runs SC2 easily with Eve online running in the background, with movies going on my 2nd screen.
Easy peasy
