Eventually, you went off to college, and I missed you. I was looking forward to the days you would visit home. I was eager to show you how much I taller I got, and how much cooler I was. You have no idea how much I wanted to show you that I was not a kid anymore. I wanted you to see me as a man.

But you always laughed me off like a older sibling laughs off her younger sibling. To you, I was always your kid brother.

All this time, I've never told you how much I loved you.

And now it's too late.

Today when you returned to visit, you returned with a man by your arms and a ring on your finger. You got engaged.

You looked so happy, I had never seen you as happy as when I saw you today, with him.

I want to congratulate you so much, but why do I feel so empty inside?
