The miracle of SC2 in my opinion is how much it took on from BW and yet still pushed its original aspects; unitwise, soundwise, thematically, mechanically and its appearance. Stormgate as it stands (I recognise it is not finished) looks like a beta RTS one would find in the days of games on cd-roms. That is fine if the music, units, machanics etc... are on point (take BW for ex) but the intricacy of the interactions between units appears to be completely missing, the art and unit models look cheap and cartoonified, the mechanics seem entirely derivative with only a thin layer of originality glued on top and worst of all is the shape of the roles of each of the factions, Frost Giant had an opportunity to be brave and radical here but instead opted for mirroring already established designs. Now from a marketing perspective I concede this approach may make sense for a team designing in a niche space (the RTS genre). But it smells of laziness and does not inspire awe in me the way SC2 did.
I accept I had unrealistic expectations of Stormgate when I first heard about it, but even with the knowledge of hindsight now that we are seeing the product come together, I find myself questioning if I will even play it. Admittedly being a huge SC2 fan has biased my opinion also as I must confess there is a part of me that REALLY does not want SC2 to die and ESPECIALLY to a game that I see as a quilt of copy paste RTS aspects lacking in overall unity and direction.
Forgive the negative tones, I want Stormgate to be amazing, I want to play a new amazing RTS, but thus far Stormgate is not scraching my RTS itch. Am I alone in this sentiment?

Like I said, BW does not look amazing, but its game play is spot on, Stormgate's gameplay (right now at least) does not have the well thought out in depth layering like BW or SC2 has.
Also SC2 looks incredible and important aspects of it affect gameplay (unit size, unit attack animation, Aoe size, FF size etc...).

unit interaction between differnt units and compositions are very important bw has it and so does sc2, admitedly i played only like 10games of stormgate, but if felt like there was no unit interaction both factions start with 2 differnt meelee units and that hit each other, and they seem to be extremely tanky, its like zealot vs zealot but with differnt skins. The units themselfs are very responsive i give them that. Another problem i have with it is i cant rebind the keys for some reason? its making me not to want to even test the game, since it conflicts my with sc2 hotkey setup.

I love the game personally. I don't know what people expected, it is in early closed beta. Go watch a couple games from Season 1 of GSL. BW was peaking beforehand and that is still the gameplay we started with in SC2. I say this because I feel like people expect it to start from where SC2 is currently and be even better. At this stage in development, I think we are right on track, but that's just me.

Currently, the game isn t taking acount ground elevation bonus. I would like at least this feature, especially for a game released 14 years after SC2....

How do you explain such a lack of interest? EVERYONE is a Brood War Fanboy, greatest game ever, Starcraft 2 sucks. Yet: No Viewership, no Sponsor and about 10 Viewer in the Brood War section. How is that possible?

You guest everywhere and like a bird owner everywhere.
that s said.
Today if you ask me what I would like for sc2 I would say that there would be a need for professional monitoring which could be payed by crowdfunding. Every two (or three) months, the best proposals from the community would be integrated into a test mod which lasts until next two (or three) months and at the end of the year, the best ideas are added to the game. It's unacceptable that a game like sc2 removed the infested terrans for example. It's also stupid not to have improvements like an upgrade for build a bunker more quickly or other simple and effective ideas like that.
It s silly to make crowfunding for organize tournaments, .... fans haven t to pay directly to watch their favorite players, it s really silly...

Umm the recent ESL qualifiers were streamed with over 6K viewers. Try to think before posting.
