I love people who make doom and gloom posts without reading past the headlines.
Activision-Blizzard has made more money then its ever made before, it just made a bit less then the even more absurd amount they were hoping for. Therefor the company is doomed!!!!
From the mouth of the CEO
Bobby Kotick, Chief Executive Officer of Activision Blizzard said “While our financial results for 2018 were the best in our history, we didn’t realise our full potential. Best financial results in our history. Their not firing people because they are in trouble. But because they want more money for the top.
Long live publicly owned companies and capitalism.

Its because they made more turnover but less profit, they are down on profit made though that is why they are restructuring and laying games off. Aka Desinty which expansion made them hardly anymore and the game itself is just therefore dead money weight.

Again, they had the best year they have ever had, it was just less awesome then expected. Feel free to point to where their profits are down. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20190212005925/en/Activision-Blizzard-Announces-Fourth-Quarter-2018-Financial-Results

Just like with the coverage of the EA stock "plummeting" about 10 days ago... "the press" is doing a shoddy job of "coverage". Blizzard's 2018 profits are DOWN $27 million from 2017. It really doesn't matter if their revenue is $500 billion a year... if profit is $0 the company is not in a good spot. The purpose of the company is to produce PROFIT. By itself, Generating REVENUE does nothing. Correcting "the press" on their coverage of this is really low hanging fruiit. Many are just providing a very small slice of facts which will whip up their audiences into a rage. Many are also looking to "suck up" to the front line EA and ATVI employees so they can get more leaked info from them in the future. EA... which was on the verge of total collapse according to many of these self proclaimed "experts" only a week ago... closed over $102. Like I've said before... the implied volatility of the stock is high.. so it over reacts both "high" and "low" to small events.
Said they were xD

(Revenue - expenses) and up from 2017's 273 million (tho there was another ~800 million in tax stuff that was a one off expensive I believe and shouldn't really be counted when comparing profit).

Haha xD
What does everyone think about a WoW 2 btw? A complete new engine, update the whole game base from spell casts to graphical sense of the world. Add a third faction to generate enough interested to make it a WoW 2 other than cosmetically xD
This in turns resets the level cap and everyone starts off from 0 again with just a legacy achievement system for those from the old game.
That way Blizzard get to reset with WoW from the start as well as bring the game cosmetically into the 21st century and beyond. Or am i just thinking to much from my PoV and WoW is just doomed to die eventually and cannot be saved at this point xD

I don't think the problems in WoW can be solved with a WoW 2. Its not the engine, as far as I know, that is the problem or holding them back. Ofcourse something like the graphics design is personal but every time I see a more realistic looking MMO I can't get past how silly and often awkward it looks. The more cartoony style suits WoW, imo.
The opposition between Blizzard wanting the game to be a job, so you log in constantly and keep your sub rolling and the players wanting a more relaxed playing style where you can chose to do stuff or let it lie is something that I think has tilted tofar towards the former. Thinks like WF, AP in legion and now the neck. Trying to keep up with that is draining and to many are not able to pace themselves and instead burn out and quit.

I think WoW2 would be a good thing. The current version of the game has an enormous amount of technical debt and problems stemming from iterating too much while ignoring old content. It's becoming impossible for Blizzard to maintain the engine (Legion and BFA have been plagued with game breaking performance problems and bugs) and give the necessary amounts of attention to each spec, class, race etc for the gameplay and story to be meaningful and enjoyable.
The game content before <current expansion> is an absolute clusterfuck. Cataclysm semi-fixed it but 6.0+ broke it again and it's in a bad state now while probably not being fixable or worth wiping clean to start over. Development in a new game could be much more cleanly compartmentalized or built to create an expanding pool or content from the ground up rather than one where old content is made obsolete over and over again after 3-24 months.

Yeah that is another area for why WoW2 could be interesting. Would love for Blizzard to try something like that if they have no plans to every bring out a completely new MMORPG etc.

WoW runs perfectly at the moment. Bugs always happen. Every Spec is playable. WoW Classic has funny problems: 2 classes are unplayable and so are X amount of specs. There is no clusterfuck. You do whatever current raid is available. You dont have to backtrack 5 year old content
But you are correct: New released MMO's are much more stable and polished. Common Knowledge. Just like WoW Classic hasnt had the "Never play on patchday". That was introduced with Legion. Remember how smooth every new released Raid ran back in the days?

Nothing like that! Also afaik all specs are playable in vanilla in many context whether raid dungeon battlegrounds or open world pve/pvp (wpvp) i think vanilla game is great, it has nice balance and no stat explosion, and a lot of wpvp (lively world) with good depth of fighting in pvp in TBC already i can name a few systems thrown off balance and then i lose interest completely at cata. I have yet to see a comparable MMO to wow vanilla if I'd name the things I like least it would be : death travel time to body and amount of crowd control, also to some extent it's too easy for high lvl chars to hunt lower lvl chars to death but even that makes some fun action happen where team up ends up winning or something, depends. Well I think its maybe missing "dishonorable kill" for killing grey player^^

If Blizzard does WoW2, I don't want the current higher-ups to be attached to its development and oversight. Diablo Immortal, Overwatch/Heroes of the Storm eSports, and BFA CS team are too recent in my memory. They need new direction and leadership before I want to see a team going for a remake from the ground up.

I'll have to refer you to articles written on the league and from interviews with the players for a satisfactory background and answer. The lines of criticism are kind of a mush in my mind, considering the two bigger eSports failures were games I did not personally play. The foremost in my mind was our very own (ok former) stuchiu's mini-failure from Blizzard. Beforehand, various articles detailing the insane amounts of money invested that didn't keep viewers interested long enough to justify the investment and sponsors and buzz. Then dissatisfied streamers. The breadth and specifics of Blizzard's role are a little too large for me to reproduce here, but I'm sure internet searches would get you the same content I read to form my opinion.
