Is that with crafted or do you run mythics multiple times to get gear from other people?
You're not eligible for loot if you're already killed the boss in regular mythic AFAIK - only in mythic+
Random comment: Annoyed by people running Mythics early in the week when you can get more AP by always waiting for one more AK order to finish before you do your Mythics. I should still be able to find a group easily as a healer later but the irrationality of some people irks me anyway.
Yeah, that tickles me too and i guess most people don't realize. I'm getting my third AK on the night of reset day so i'l do them then rather than waiting for the next one as it would be on the tuesday
you can replace the lost AP with like 4-5 random heroics but that's free AP that you would have also gotten if you had just waited
|
If I had more time I'd try to churn out mythics later in the week, but since I don't I just run them whenever I can.
Realistically everything we're doing now is a drop in the bucket compared to what will come at higher AK levels, so I'm not super worried about being less than perfectly optimal. I'm still on track to have 20-21 traits prior to raiding.

Next reset Normal and Heroic raids open up. Mythic+ opens up. Presumably World Bosses aswell.
The week after Mythic Raids open.

On the other hand, most people see upgrading their gear as immediately more important and useful than getting more AP. Doing mythics earlier means you have more chances to increase your item level so that the world quests give you better gear which increases your ilevel further (and so forth and so forth). For me, I don't like running 8+ dungeons in 2 days, and running them gives some variety as well (since having fun and not burning out is also very important).

I think there is a cap for how much you can improve world quest rewards at this point and most are already beyond that. And many dont need the immediate equip improvement either because there is no content before raids you need that for.

In some 3.5 months time we will earn 5.2 million (enough to cap an artifact) in the effort that it takes to get 30k AP today
Might as well wait until you have max artifact knowledge before the raid - doing 50 heroics at 3-4 artifact knowledge will give you 1.9 - 2.4x more power than doing them at level 0. For a given amount of hours played / effort it's efficient to wait (but doing the work before AND after will always give you more of course)
so that the world quests give you better gear
You need like 830 to get the best world quest gear possible AFAIK and my group got higher than that on week 1

Yeah definitely there are cases where it makes sense. But there are also a lot of people being irrational about it.

And doing things optimally is always nice but when it's getting in the way of what would be most fun then it's worth evaluating how insignificant the compromise is.

You can do that for mythic+ for sure - you're always eligible as long as somebody has a keystone - but regular mythics?
Personal Loot now allows players to trade any items that are not Item Level upgrades for them to eligible groupmates
i was under the impression that after killing the boss once you became uneligible and could not be given loot drops that other people got via personal in future kills. That's how it was in WOD for both mythic 5mans and for raids and i didn't see any evidence of it changing

Technically you can run it with other people, those people get loot and then they trade it to you....?

IDK about trading gear from other people's boss rolls -- never tried it. I've gotten gear from chests on locked out Mythics. I don't know if anyone bothers to farm chests or not but it's possible. When a piece drops, the same piece drops for everyone (probably a bug) so you can make all leather groups or whatever and farm them.
I mean either you're on a server with a ton of mats or BoE's being sold, or you spend a ton of time farming for yourself, or you farm for chests. 850 gear doesn't come from anywhere else and it seems relatively rare to hit 850 from world quests and mythics at this point.

Ah yeah. Chests are seperate but they only give gear a small fraction of the time. Chest loot is always the same party-wide, a few of my friends got an 850+socket ring for whole party that way
is there any documentation of where chests are or how often they spawn? Which dungeons are likely to have them close to the entrance etc? They give a fair amount of AP as well, so it may be worth farming

It's really weird when the whole party gets a BoP piece of Mail gear when 80% of the group doesn't use Mail.

Still I dont get how someone can have 850 gear everywhere without crafting. I have a single 850 item in my raid gear and I have done everything except the 2 mythic you need reputation for.

all but 4 of my items are WF 845/850 and/or socketed and i have not done mythics of this reset, bought any obliterum gear or ran more than 70 or so heroics
note that the 850 ilvl is inflated by the weapon which is probably 870-879 (my mainspec is 878, offspec 870) - You can say ilvl 850 while still having a lot of 845 gear, maybe an 840 or two because of that.

It feels like world quest gear still gets better past 830. The epic today for me has i840, while it was capping around 835 last week.

world "pvp" quests offer 840s sometimes if your honor rating is 12 or over.

My honor rating is 7 and they suddenly started offering me 840's instead of 805's

Unrelated but does anybody else find the baseline movement speed to be very hard to play with? I played hunter in WOD w/ aspect of the cheetah and other stuff up for ~1.6x base runspeed most of the time, now i'm on a DH with permanant ~1.3x runspeed that will increase later into the expansion. Many classes and specs just feel awful to play for me because i can't run or when i do run, the runspeed is so slow. This isn't true for all MMO's because i didn't get that feeling with any of the Wildstar classes, it seems like a WoW thing

But oh well I will buy/craft 4 items, it will already look better nthen.

You must have not done a lot of stuff or been extremely unlucky. Buying isn't a bad option sometimes, the crafted rings cost ~45k and are BIS pre-raid

I've now had fifteen 840+ items drop from mythic dungeons and world quests. Luck has been nice to me this expansion
