I thought the idea was to make it so there isn't a big "barrier to entry" with PvP gear. So yeah, PvP gear is "bad" this expansion by design, so anyone that wants to PvP can just hop into it. Am I wrong? What else changed?? Edit: not that PvP just straight up got "bad", I should say, but that everyone is normalized to each other in PvP so gear isn't a factor, just the player? | ||

While my raid gear is not great my 5 man gear is pretty good. :D I am new on my server and my guild so I dont have a permanent group yet. | ||

About the barrier to entry gearwise, ye sure gear wise you can just hop in, it will be ilvl800 vs 850 maximum sort of. Thats a 5% difference, which is a difference ofcourse but you still stand a quite big chance. But what i meant with the gear is you do not get ANY gear through pvp means. I have played over 100 arena matches now and i have received something like 3gears ilvl 780~, OK i got one ilvl 810 i think the rest were lower than 800. Might have played 200 arenas to, not rly counting. About the other stuff such as honor talents and artifact power. Thats a very big entry barrier. Blizzard fooled me yet again. | ||

Blizzard fooled me yet again. 800 to 850 is ~5% in item level, but it's a much bigger than 5% difference in power level and HP and all that. The scaling isn't linear. Is ilvl still relevant in PvP? I was under the impression it wouldn't be, in Legion. If they just removed "pvp specific" stats but people with ilvl 850 still do a ton more damage to other players than those with ilvl 800 then there is still a gear barrier. They seemed to imply there would be no barrier to entry for pvp this expansion, and rewards would be in the form of honor talents and idk, transmog and such, not specifically better gear. | ||

AFAIK your gear stats are entirely replaced by a template of stats and ability multipliers for your class and spec now. Your ilvl modifies this, but only slightly - 50 ilvls might give you 5-10% more stats instead of the 61% more stats that everybody in PVE gets. | ||

I wonder why the gear earned through pvp right now is so low then, as Foxxan has been mentioning. Has an arena season not officially started yet? | ||

I assume its a special very rare thing. i've done 2-3 of the 840 pvp spawns already and they all had 20+ people sat there spamming AOE (my guildies are complaining about sitting there for 30 mins without being able to tag the boss now o.o) | ||

I ended up getting it eventually, what i had to do was to stand still at the spawning place and then well i had competetion but i succeeded like three times in a row with that, so got like 10mobs. Was in a 5man party at max so got a few kills through them. At the boss i had no party but with rng or just luck it spawns where i stand so i just hit it asap. Not a fun experience at all. But still glad i got the item. | ||
