http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/increasingly-high-cost-of-hockey-is-making-the-game-an-elitist-sport/article5864491/ an increase of 1.5% after a massive , massive decline in participation http://www.csib.ca/blog/melting-ice-canadas-hockey-crisis the guys my age and a bit older are telling their kids absolutely no tackle football.. and more than ever happened when i was a kid they are also saying the same thing about hockey. football is still the #1 banned sport here i'd say.. and hockey is coming up fast. any how , back to football. Michael Sam is taking another break. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13440475/michael-sam-announces-stepping-away-football Michael Sam is not leaving for personal issues. he is leaving because he can't crack the starting line up of a below average CFL team. He looked gawd awful biting on an obvious fake in his final play in the CFL and was pulled off the field immediately. Montreal is being politically correct and "player friendly" by not publicly criticizing his play. it appears the guys saying "Michael Sam just ain't good enough" were correct. i thought the guy had the potential to dominate in the CFL. he was terrible in the CFL.

Michael Sam is also really not a good football player at all, it's really apparent at this point from his limited exposure in the pros. Shit even in college he was more a product of playing on a stupidly good line with several future good NFLers. He was every bit as blocky and slow and undersized.

Here is a quote from your story. "While concern over injury understandably gets most of the attention, cost is actually a much greater worry to parents, according to a survey conducted last year by RBC. It found that the average hockey family spends $1,500 a year to be in the game. Nearly 40 per cent of those asked identified “cost” as the No.1 reason for the static state of enrolment." i guess i have to get right down to the exact sentence. because you half read the article. why they don’t play the game and the top four reasons given were a) it wasn’t fun b) was too time consuming c) safety concerns d) and affordability. furthermore , i'm referring to a change in attitude OVER 20 YEARS. read what i posted. i compared to how it was when i was kid. not some single point in time And i'll say it again because you half read this stuff: football is still more restricted/banned than hockey.. but hockey is moving up fast. there are greater safety concerns by parents for both football and hockey in canada than there were 20, 30 or 40 years ago.

+ Show Spoiler + Not for social reasons. It's more like... work-related reasons. Any suggestions on how I should start?

This actually helped someone i know www.nfl.com

And you can learn the players and the teams. I've also tried to find good "football 101" type stuff for others and there really isn't much there... So, as others have said, video games are a good start. I don't think anyone here will mind if you spend the preseason asking questions... I coach (and play - in Finland) although I'm by no means an expert I can probably answer most questions :D On the topic of safety.... I have no problem being a player (at almost 33 years old) because not only is the speed and impact level much lower but most players also avoid helmet contact... I wouldn't play in the US anymore.

He loaded up numbers against most of the worst schools mizzou played and was relatively invisible against any too opponents. This is why quite a few people thought his SEC defensive player of the year award was undeserved http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/michael-sam-1/gamelog/2013/ that whole thing was stupid and shitty from the get go. No doubt there are shitloads of people who hated him for being gay, but the lynch mob mentality mean that thinking something as reasonable as this guy isn't a good NFL player and shouldn't be drafted high, if at all, meant you hate gay people. It was obnoxious hearing people who watch zero football say he almost went undrafted for being gay, not for being a marginal, undersized player with one good year (filled with cupcakes as you noted) the guyalso did himself no favors at all by being a huge primadonna. he spent more time on dancing with the stars and his two leaves of absence than he did in the NFL.
