Wasn't feeling too great about my draft at the time but I managed to get a first round bye. Stewart has been solid for me but I'm just kind of floundering around for a 2nd RB. across all leagues, ive been having way more success deviating from RB-RB in the first two. You obviously really really need to hit some of those mid-late rbs, but with so many teams platooning and the amount of the injuries the game naturally produces, it def can work This is the first year I didnt go RB-RB. Gotta say it still seems like the safest way to go. Felt like my team was going to fall apart a few times the way I did it this year with Ben getting banged up and Eifert taking like all the Cincy TDs. If you hit on RB-RB I think it's a lot easier to cruise through the league.

I grabbed Eifert very late as a backup TE as well. It's been working out decently.
Every time I look back to the draft and think about drafting RBs earlier this year, I struggle to think which RB I would have realistically drafted earlier that would be helping my team right now. I have Freeman (1), Miller (6) and Stewart (T-7) in my league. The only RB in the top 5 that was a 1st-2nd round guy is Peterson, and he had plenty of question marks coming in. Ingram is out for the season now. I don't think Martin and Ivory were highly regarded before the season started.
|
Took Ingram as my 2nd RB in most leagues. Worked out very well almost all year. Took McFadden late in most as well which ended up helping quiet a bit later.
|
I mean if you're picking 1-5 it's still pretty safe to take an Rb on the whole. but in years past i'd think it as nuts to not have 2 RBs down by the end of Round 3. Not any more
|
I've gotten slaughtered on my first round RB picks the past couple years (Peterson and Lynch). I'm inclined to avoid doing it again.

the only reason I changed my drafting style was AgentW suggested I look into AB in my PPR league and then he also happened to be best available in my standard league when it was my turn to pick so I just rolled with it

I took CJ anderson in the first...
My disastrous season is all my fault.
|
Lacy, OBJ, and Ingram in my league with 6th pick
|
i had a late pick (8th) so i did WR-RB-WR and finished season in 2nd going into the playoffs (only due to my league commissioner being a cheating asshole). ended up with antonio brown, aj green, mike evans at wr. the RB i took was the best available (jeremy hill) and that didn't work out as well.
But i also took Brady late and hit it huge with that move, and got chris ivory mid rounds. I ended up getting lucky and picked up jonathon stewart and gary barnidge off waivers so my team got solidified pretty easily.
After this season i'm beginning to feel like if you're not in the first 5 or so picks going RB-RB isn't worth it as much. you need one of those top top top RB's with your first pick to make it worthwhile. and snagging a couple of the top WR's and 1 pretty good RB seems like it'd be a stronger option.
|
I went AB, julio, then shady.
After that I mean your picks are pretty inconsequential, the rest of my team is pretty much stuff I didn't draft besides the surprising production I got from drafting Marshall/Decker in later rounds.
|
I'm in a 2 QB league so I went Brees, Romo, Lamar Miller. I pretty much got my playoff berth when I drafted Devonta Freeman around the 12th round and he went off for a month. Landry has been pretty solid as well even in a non-ppr league. He'd be much better in a ppr league.
It's still a pretty strange year for RBs. Out of the consensus top 5 RBs before the draft, how many did work out?
|
I went Lynch, Luck, Alshon, Melvin...................so fail. Only one remaining on my team currently is Alshon.
Brandon Marshall in the 7th, Doug Martin in the 9th, and Delanie Walker in the 10th have really saved me.

Holy shit, Larry Fitzgerald deserves 3 points for that TD block.
Can't remember seeing a WR pancake a safety like that.

I don't know. I had one RB-WR draft and one WR-WR draft. I'm more satisfied with the RB first one. The main thing I've learned is just to handcuff #1 if you can (one of our tacos drafted Deangelo so I didn't even get a chance to) and don't undervalue Mark Ingram. :|
Ivory and Miller have worked out really nicely though.
