I come to you in a time of need. Over the last 3 months my family and I have been involved in a grueling weight losing contest against other people nationwide (USA). The premise of the contest is basically as follows:
1) Teams of 5
2) Each team member can only lose a maximum of 16.59% of their body weight, after this amount is reached the rest of the weight lost does not count towards your team goal.
After a lot of work my family and I were able to reach the required 16.59%. The only problem is that 5 other teams also reached the required 16.59% and as a result we have a 6 way-tie for first place. This is where you guys would step in. The way the contest is designed in case of ties is that it essentially becomes a Facebook popularity contest to see who wins. Anyways, 1st place gets $10,000, 2nd place gets $5000, and 3rd place gets $3000. I need your VOTES to win this contest. Votes wise we are currently sitting in like 4th place with like 60 votes. The team in 1st place is currently at 390 votes. There is no prize money for 4th place, and all our work outs would have been in vain.
If you guys (the Blizzard community) help us win, we will host an online STARCRAFT 2 Tournament with a prize pool of $1500. Obviously, having voted (screen shot required) would be a pre-requisite to enter this tournament. You help me, I help you. For those of you that don't know me I was a former WC3 professional gamer in the US and an SC2 professional gamer with team x6 when SC2 barely came out. I would like to give back but I need your help to do so.
Here is how you can help us:
Step 1) Go to the web browser
Step 2) go to this link
MOD EDIT
Step 3) Find MOD EDIT log in your facebook information and vote. (Hit skip on the option where healthy wage will automatically post for you)
Voting Ends December 10.
Please take a screen shot that you voted if you wish to participate in the upcoming sc2 tournament.
I'm afraid voting for you would require me to stoop the level of "using Facebook". I'd be more inclined if you, say, made it 50% of your earnings instead of just $1,500 ^_~.
Also, somewhat tasteless advertising, even if it has good SC2 intentions. WHAT IF YOU DON'T EVEN GIVE US A TOURNAMENT AFTER WINNING?

I certainly see your point, but I have been around for a while (since WC3 vanilla days). There are many ways to be held accountable. Ill be glad to do anything that will give this more legitimacy. There many people that can vouch for me.

I don't doubt that you're who you say you are or anything. The image for Team BoO on the link provided for you looks like a Hispanic family, and you're name (according to check-six-gaming liquipedia page) is Carlos. What more evidence do you need there?!
Also, why would the "weight loss challenge" make the prize pool distribution be based on VOTES? That's the stupidest idea ever. It'd make much more sense to just split it evenly all 6 ways, if everyone performed equally.....
So basically, you just showed up here and you think we're going to shower you with votes so you can win 10 grand because losing weight wasn't a reward for you? And you're willing to sweeten the deal by giving us 15%, so that you can at least win thousands of dollars? And you have no actual evidence you'll give us jack shit once this is all over?

Really impressive offer.
Honestly, it isn't that much work to vote using facebook for it, so even if he didn't give us anything for it, you'd have lost more time making that post than you would from voting. I do believe it's actually the player though. If you knew this was credible, would you vote??
Hell, if you (BoO) could get Major or someone else with some good credibility in the SC2 scene to vouch for you here, then I'm quite confident that you could reach at least 3rd.

I'm a bit surprised that nobody's interested in this. I mean, it's just fricken clicking on a facebook link, it's not exactly a gruelling effort, and he's not asking for it for free either. Furthermore it's not like he's just showing up out of nowhere, as he said he WAS on check six, verifiable via its liquipedia page (last edited in 2012).
He's got my vote, I always do what I can for more Starcraft.
Edit: He literally joined TL.net in 2005 for goodness sake. Have some respect for seniority...
Seriously guys, it's not like he is committing fraud. The worst that can happen is he doesn't give us a tournament and we lose 5 seconds of our oh so important lives.
I for one am contributing, he's part of our community whichever way you look at it.
Or, you could check out Check 6's liquipedia page and note the date edited.
Hell, you could even realize that this guy is basically going to give the SC2 community 1500 in exchange for clicking three buttons.
Hasn't anyone hear heard of not looking a gift horse in the mouth? Honestly the complaints here are just ridiculous.
Sorry for getting bothered here, it probably doesn't help OP's cause, the slow decline of this community just bugs me sometimes...
Edit: I mean, I "get it" (ha!), the SC2 community has a habit of contributing to things that don't make good on their promises. Here's thing though: HE'S NOT ASKING FOR MONEY. In fact, he's giving us an opportunity to GIVE us (the community) money. That's a very relevant difference.
Edit2: Fuck it, I'm ranting.

OH MY GOD NO!? YOU MEAN WE MIGHT HAVE CLICKED THREE BUTTONS FOR NOTHING?! The horror! THE HORROR!

sorry you feel that way, because losing weight is a pretty good outcome, even if you don't win any money.

that's going to help your cause, lol. your post is so blatantly insincere, that's why everyone is giving you sh*t for it.
referring to TL as "the Blizzard community" is also a massive insult.
you might have had a chance if you offered 50%, which would have been fair since the only chance you had of winning was with help.
Right, totally fair. Because you know, we all lost 16% of our body weight, and we even have to now do the herculean task of clicking on his vote button. Hell, he should just give us all the money for the noble sacrifice we've made!

What the hell do you want!? A god damn legally binding contract that we the undersigned will vote on his internet contest if and only if he provides us with a starcraft tournament? How in the hell does that make sense!? What's the worst that could happen if FLASH FORBID he doesn't make good on his offer? We miss out on a starcraft tournament that won't happen if we don't give him votes? That's it? That's the absolute worst thing, and the more likely outcome is we get a starcraft tournament we weren't expecting? HOW ARE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS!?!
Again, I'm sorry for ranting, sorry for getting angry, it just truly truly sickens me to see that the average starcraft fan has apparently turned into an entitled selfish brat. I thank those of you who arn't entitled selfish brats, and I mean no offence to you.

Is that too much to ask?
Your logic just seems flawed. The tournament might not happen if you click and somehow he backs out of it, or it definitely won't happen if we don't vote. If the other contestants were also presenting us with a comparable reason for voting for them then your post would make sense.
I'm reserving judgement. Even if he is who he claims, it would be nice to have a few people vouch for his character. Then at least we have a few people to brow beat if the tournament never happens.
Having a zero post account on TL from 2005 means absolutely nothing. You clearly couldn't be bothered to be a member of the TL community in any way/shape/form these past 8 years.
If you were a pretty good player in wc3 and sc2 that also means nothing, there are/were a million "pretty good players" in these games. Again, why should we give you what you want?
It's not about clicking on a few links, sure that's easy, it's the idea that you want something from us that gives you gain, for a promise that we have no way to hold you to. I would be more than happy to click a few buttons for someone who had some sort of history on this site that I could see, like "oh it's that guy and he did that, or made that thread, or helped with this", but no, you come in with 1 post, and you essentially beg, so no, I will not help you, and neither should anyone else on this site who doesn't know you.

Well, he was "pretty good" enough to be on an actual team. Shit, look back at Dimaga and that wedding contest. People voted for his thing and it's not like they got anything out of it. At least this guy is offering to put some of the money won into SC2.
Even if there was only a 10% chance of him keeping his word with this, I think spending the few seconds (again, you spent more time typing your post) to vote for him would be worth it. $1500 more in e-sports?? I can hardly see why anyone wouldn't do this. And having a 2005 account is actually quite a feat. I believe TL started in 2002, no?
i think OP definitely did miss the point of the competition, i bet he and his family are not only a lot closer after going through this together but definitely a lot healthier too. I think that in itself is a great outcome.
Now as for voting, I see no harm in it. I don't really think people deserve money for being healthy though, or making transformations.
Look, most of you might not remember me but I have been around for a long time. Im not trying to scam anyone. Its quite simple. Gaming has given a lot to me. If I can sponsor a tournament to bring a few thrills. Im going to do it.
This was me vs moon back in 2005, on the big stage in Korea.
Unfortunately my gaming times are mostly behind me. I have a wife, a baby, and a full time career.
You don't have to vote, but if you do it would be greatly appreciated.
Seriously, you wouldn't win the 10k without our votes and if we get you to 2nd or 3rd you still get a ton of cash for nothing. If you were donating half the prize you have no shot at getting, we might be more willing to help, but the promise of 1.5k out of 10 and you keeping 2nd or 3rd money is dodgy. Noone gives a shit you played Moon in 2005. If this was someone who'd done anything for the community I'd vote without a second thought, but you're just a nobody (whose word means nothing) who wants us to help you make an easy 10k/5k/3k.

You don't realize just how hard it is to lose that much weight in 3 months lol. Secondly, its 10k divided by 5. That means each person gets 2k. Out of my potential $2k im giving my part ($1500) part up.

I highly doubt it was that easy to lose 16% of his body weight.
You guys need to really chill the FUCK OUT! He's not asking for money, just our votes! Also, he promises that he will use that money to host a SC2 tournament. If he doesn't, then oh well, what do we have to lose?
The OP may have presented himself unconventionally, and it's not easy to trust those who self-promote themselves especially when TL has been rightfully very harsh against those kinds of people. But sometimes, it just saddens me how some of the TL posters can be heartless dicks for very uncompelling reasons. You could just ask politely about his credentials or something. Seriously, there are better ways to communicate here, people!
Btw, I voted for you! I wish the very best for you and your family!
We have nothing to lose idk why people are being such assholes...
Oh so each of us spend 2 seconds voting for him. Lets say he doesn't fulfill his promise. Oh no we helped a father with children pay for their college educations! Seriously some of the people of this website...
