Whats even more shocking to me is that they even shoot people trying to help the wounded. I can understand if the police shoots at poeple who are about to throws molotows at them ( of course they shouldnt use live ammunition but if they have nothing else its understandable that they try to save their lives aswell) but i dont know how you can shoot people trying to help..

Earlier in this thread there were photos of the police throwing molotov cocktails at protesters. It's horrible that they're shooting at medics, unarmed protesters, and those trying to help the wounded, but not really surprising to me anymore.

There is a reason they're trying to remove these horrible people from power. And a reason Putin is supporting the government.

it's not fair to say Putin is supporting the government. he doesn't care which government rules Ukraine as long as it remains loyal to Russia/russian interests.
And my fury stands ready. I bring all your plans to nought. My bleak heart beats steady. 'Tis you whom I have sought.

Well the protesters arent very civil either, there are two sides of the coin. It is a bit more diverse than you might think.

I'm not sure where you live, but I personally don't find it acceptable under any circumstance for police to throw gasoline bombs at people, or for police snipers to fire live ammunition at medics, or fire live ammunition indiscriminately into crowds (such as the video from L'viv). The police are supposed to protect the people from those who would do such things.

You are right but then again it is about emotions there is also footage of protesters throwing molotov cocktails at the police or beating them to a pulp with stones.

The usage of live ammunition is disgusting though.

That said literally nothing except insinuating bad things about the protesters.

I m not insinuating anything i just try to stay objective. There is no "good protesters" and "bad police" dichotomy here.

Things are way out of control on both sides. A reporter behind the police lines kept seeing wounded police officers getting dragged back from the front.

Btw. EU is holding an emergency session in the council after several leader have been to Kyiv to talk to politicians there. It is expected that EU and USA will announce common sanctions against people involved in the Ukrainian regime. A possible twist is the chance that sanctions will hit some of the organisations behind the most violent protesters too. The result of the meeting will be announced at a press conference 19:30 (EST)

Medvedev basically pushed Yanukovich into more violence earlier today. In a press release he said in order to get the next $2 billion loan the authorities should "be in shape" and "not be a doormat and let their opponents wipe their feet over them".

A number of neutral and pro-Yanukovich MPs have claimed their support for Euromaidan. Some of those had left the Party of Regions. There is a Parliament session right now. They are trying to get enough votes for the new Speaker of Parliament and the new Prime Minister.

The Head of Kyiv Administration, who was recently appoined by Yanukovich, had left the Party of Regions. Transportation by metro may be resumed soon (since he was the one to shut it down).

Less than 2 years ago I was in Ukraine for the Euro cup. It's so weird seeing that plaza on which the biggest fan zone was installed and which was host to thousands of celebrating fans every night reduced to a burning war zone.

Up to 60 protesters were killed only today. Governmental forces are shooting people indiscriminately, including medics.

They started to use it even before, starting from 18 of february. There were multiple reports (including photos and dead bodies) about people killed by firearms before. What has changed is that now they are using it much more freely and aren't hiding.

Don't get me wrong, I don't deny that some police workers are getting killed as well. But can you link to photos and videos?
Because government was talking about this for a long time and they always failed to provide any evidence showing that protesters are actually shooting police. Although, that was before, considering what is happening today I won't be surprised to see protesters shooting back.

A young medic who posted “I’m dying” on a networking site after being shot by the police, is reported to be among those killed in the clashes, the news site Interpret Mag reports.

Olesya Zhukovskaya, 21, was shot in the neck by a sniper, according to the protest group Euromaidan.

Her last post on the site Vkontakte read: “I’m dying”.

She was photographed clutching her neck as it bled onto her white coat emblazoned with a red cross.

How anyone defends the side targeting medical personnel I will never understand. Neither side need be angelic for it to be clear which one is "worse".

I can confirm that radical protesters have been shooting back. Some of them are snipers too. I'm not sure what kind of weapons they got though. But they just don't stand in the crowd. So why would Berkut and others be shooting at the crowd and hitting medics is totally beyond me.

It's XXI century.

We're in Europe, western civilization.

I can't believe 400 miles east from me, cops are allowed to shoot to death random people. What kind of people they are? What they are even fighting for? It boggles my mind when I try to think about it. Isn't the time for army to step up and do something?

It is the "us vs them" mentality, for every cop or protester that gets killed more hate will grow and more hate leads to more clean cut fronts.
