Also I wonder how much money Riot spent in achieving this.
I am getting really tired of this. Virtually in any thread about pro-gamers, these people come in a start promoting their "healthy lifestyle", whatever that means.
Is it now compulsary? When you like e-sports, you have to be into physical fitness? Who decided that? Everybody acts like this was something beyond any question, which is absurd.

Riot's not gonna fight for other companies. If Blizzard or Valve wants this, they're already benefiting from Riot, as they set a precedent.
This is a win for all eSports, but unless the other companies are proactive enough to do something about this, they're not gonna get the same privilege.
Now if Riot did do something to monopolize this, such as bar other games from having this status, then there's an issue.

Should make it easier for other eSports to get the same legal benefits now, at least. This. Any other e-sport application would be answered the same with enough lobbying.

Great for eSports. Bad for SC2's future as a more serious game than LoL.

Oh, other factors definitely did help, including the massive popularity that the game enjoys worldwide. But don't act like money didn't play any part in it at all, it's just silly.

Kinda obvious LoL would be the first, seeing as they have the most active parent company and an extremely large viewer base for their tournaments. Now that the hard part is done and the door is open, hopefully other esports organizations (be it parent companies or team associations) can follow suit.

No he's saying if you are spending 10 hours a day sat in front of a computer practicing, there should be measures to make sure you and your wrists and body in general stay healthy.

Wow what a silly argument. Ever heard someone call themselves a 'sports fan'? Of course you have. And a 'sports fan' doesn't need to be into football and basketball and tennis and all the other sports in the world to call themselves a 'sports fan'. The term 'esports fan' does not imply that you like every single competitive video game out there, it just explains in two words that you enjoy the competitive side of video games, be that playing or watching.
Edit: Oops maybe I should talk about the topic instead of just derailing. Yay for this happening, although I do find it somewhat strange that only LoL players count as athletes. Why not all competitive video games? Or at least all mobas? But hey, not complaining, its a step in the right direction.

I wouldn't equate lobbying to bribery personally.

Knowing how Riot likes to do things, it's not quite as likely, although you are correct that it's a legitimate possibility that shouldn't be completely overlooked.

Are you serious? Do you know US culture at all? We have all sorts of good looking skinny people in our advertising, yet have the highest obesity rate in the world. Healthy life styles in a society are not a result of influence, but a result of the individual wanting to change themselves for the better.
