It's cool to have eSports get recognized in the US, but it's weird that they'd pick LoL over some of the other longer-standing, more sustainable, more practice-requiring, more effort-giving games. XD lolwat. But in serious note, getting visas for 5 man team wasn't that HARD before, now it's just a lot easier since their S3 Championship is in Staples Center (USA).

Yea, the LoL pro really need to keep it up now, NFL players are already killing real people and those plebs are still stuck fighting npcs?

XD well blizzard isn't actively lobbying to them in the same way riot is. in fact, blizzard has been pretty stagnant in their efforts of trying to promote the game.

XD Like Call of Duty. I mean, this is interesting to me cuz 1) it's funny 2) the LoL players, if they are the first to set a trend, have kinda set themselves up to be ridiculed by regular people who know nothing about the industry. just imagine regular people who know nothing about video games or its culture seeing a flyer for announcement about LoLthletes. It's gonna take a while for a change in opinions to happen, but the LoL players are the lightning rod for all of us. They are the heroes we need, but not the ones we deserve =(

Now other games will be able to follow this precedent. A shame those longer standing games never succeeded in accomplishing this. EDIT: + Show Spoiler + On July 13 2013 05:52 oGoZenob wrote: first lol, and then what, curling ? pretty sure curling is already a sport...

Promoting a healthy lifestyle should be the job of these as they will be role models.. Being a role model while not looking after yourself isn't very good for the next generation. Also I wonder how much money Riot spent in achieving this.

be happy that esports is making progress. this is pretty damn huge considering the visa problems that players have had in the past and even more as a symbolic gesture. as for why league of legends, it's because riot pushes the hardest out of any company and because of the massive player base.

Yea I am sure that Riot had so much money that the US Government had no other way than to accept it. This happened to LoL cause LoL is the only game that has a actual league structure, and one organizer that is pushing this.

Who gives a shit what physical condition you're in except yourself.
