Think Riot put a no competition clause in there somewhere?

Good deal, hopefully it'll make life easier all around!

lolwat.

But in serious note, getting visas for 5 man team wasn't that HARD before, now it's just a lot easier since their S3 Championship is in Staples Center (USA).

Yea, the LoL pro really need to keep it up now, NFL players are already killing real people and those plebs are still stuck fighting npcs?

well blizzard isn't actively lobbying to them in the same way riot is. in fact, blizzard has been pretty stagnant in their efforts of trying to promote the game.

Like Call of Duty.

I mean, this is interesting to me cuz
1) it's funny
2) the LoL players, if they are the first to set a trend, have kinda set themselves up to be ridiculed by regular people who know nothing about the industry. just imagine regular people who know nothing about video games or its culture seeing a flyer for announcement about LoLthletes. It's gonna take a while for a change in opinions to happen, but the LoL players are the lightning rod for all of us.

They are the heroes we need, but not the ones we deserve =(

as long as the whole of e-sport benefits from that I am fine with that.

But LoL of all games is kinda funny ^_^

I dont get it why is this funny? It's great!
Now other games will be able to follow this precedent.
A shame those longer standing games never succeeded in accomplishing this.

Because it's Riot that has been pushing for this to happen.

If E-sports is really going to start getting promoted into the "Professional Athlete" status then I feel in the contracts they should have to be able to pass a physical test.

Promoting a healthy lifestyle should be the job of these as they will be role models.. Being a role model while not looking after yourself isn't very good for the next generation.

Also I wonder how much money Riot spent in achieving this.

you guys are so elitist that it's fucking hilarious.

be happy that esports is making progress. this is pretty damn huge considering the visa problems that players have had in the past and even more as a symbolic gesture.

as for why league of legends, it's because riot pushes the hardest out of any company and because of the massive player base.

What's the difference between pro athlete visa and normal visa? Say, for example, can pro SC2 obtain this kind of visa and stay in NA to play full length LAN WCS NA, korean-style?

Yea I am sure that Riot had so much money that the US Government had no other way than to accept it.
This happened to LoL cause LoL is the only game that has a actual league structure, and one organizer that is pushing this.

Except it's not a physical sport so it really doesn't matter. You going to say judges/lawyers/doctors who are overweight are failures too? Who gives a shit what physical condition you're in except yourself.
