So Alex why are you so afraid of Slasher? You’ve got the biggest e-Sports organization in the entire world and yet when little Slasher makes a report that you will be picking up a League of Legends roster, you blackball him. Who do you think you are, Lance Armstrong? You even got Idra and InControl to come to your defense. Why? Why can’t you fight your own battles yourself? You lost Scoots and EG’s Wheat won’t be making another rant defending your honor.
Let’s take a look at Slasher’s history as an “e-sports” journalist:
Rod Breslau @Slasher “The SC2 player market may be inflated, but these superstars deserve the contracts EG and KeSPA can give. Other teams need to step up.”
“Fnatic and Complexity have closed their gaming houses. Shows just how difficult it is to make it work, no matter Korean or a Western team.”
“Preach it. RT @ImmortalTech: ‘Real Journalism, is printing what people do not want you to print. Everything else is just public relations.’”
“If you missed it from yesterday, sources say Alicia and Heart will join Axiom: http://www.gamespot.com/6402187 “
“Lets be clear: Off the record info told to me stays OFF THE RECORD. My sources for team/league/player moves are not from those same orgs.”
“Furthermore @EGiNcontroL, teams/players get good exposure on the front of GameSpot. I am NOT supposed to give opinions on news coverage.”
That last point is interesting. So the leaking of the former CLG EU LoL team is good publicity for you and Evil Geniuses, so are you afraid of it being leaking on the poorly designed GameSpot website that the former of the members of CLG EU will want an increase of salary? Instead of one SteelSeries (or is it Razer now?) headsets that they’ll get two?
So Alex and the rest of Evil Geniuses riddle me this. What if it was John Clayton reporting this information? Would you treat him the same way? How about if it was Bob Woodward? Woodward took unnamed sources into the history books by reporting the greatest political scandal in United States history. How about when Adam Schefter of ESPN reports where a player is thinking on going in the NFL? The NFL is a larger organization and an organization has a lot more money than Evil Geniuses. However I don’t think that when Adam Schefter reports when Vincent Jackson is going to Tampa Bay, that he will turn around and go “syke” and stay with the San Diego Chargers. No he still went to Tampa Bay.
So Alex I’m waiting why you won’t let the ginger “e-sports” journalist do his job. I’m sure that if he reports that CLG EU will sign with Evil Geniuses you can make another “Geniuses Falling” documentary and still get plenty of views. Please Alex, who do you think you are thinking that you’re immune from “unnamed sources?” As a marketing man, I know you’ll adapt, you did with Stephano, and EG is still around, just deal with it, make a parody and move on. Alex you’re not John Boehner, President Obama, Roger Goddell, Gary Betteman, and you’re not the king or emperor of e-Sports. If you are, build your Death Star and blow up the GameSpot offices.

That's completely different because it's news that wouldn't have been reported otherwise.
Alex's whole point is that the only person to gain anything from Slasher's announcements is Slasher himself. By making the announcement, he is directly hurting revenue of the team, since building hype and attracting attention is a major source of revenue for the teams, where in real sports the majority of the revenue is made from broadcasting rights, or direct sales to the consumer.

Then Mr. Garfield needs to understand that his organization is not going to be able to make grandiose announcements anymore. E-Sports now is making enough money that things cannot be kept quiet anymore. As TotalBiscuit said today on ITG, these kind of announcements only work for the EGs, the coLs, the iGs, and LGDs. We all knew Stephano was going to EG, and he was able to adapt. He surprised us all with Jaedong, and I know he'll surprise us more in the future. But Slasher is going to get one or two now and then, and you take the punch and roll with it. You don't get hurt, fall down, and take your ball.
I do know the limitations of revenue, but EG and Mr. Garfield are the masters of revenue in e-Sports. He will adapt and rebound and EG will be stronger than ever. Take a look at Snute and TL. Slasher reported Snute to TL, and TL made an awesome announcement video.
The real question even if the news is spoiled, did we all still not watch the Geniuses Falling faux documentary? Yes I did. And I'm sure I'll watch the announcement of the CLG EU team. When Slasher announcements happen, it usually jump starts the hype-train. The people paying attention to e-Sports are eagerly anticipating Slasher and EG announcements. Is EG announcing something jaw-dropping going to attract a non-E-Sports audience. No. E-Sports people will still pay attention to the official statement made by Mr. Garfield and will give him the time, regardless of what Slasher says.

Isn't it the job of journalists to catch big scoops and report them asap? o_0

You strike a really odd tone if you were actually expecting a response. I understand your frustration with the EG organization, I myself have termed them as, "the Yankees," of eSports on several occasions but the bottom line is they got there because they do what they do well.
It does not necessarily fall to Garfield to defend his business endeavors, responses or lack there of to those that take a seemingly odd amount of offense at his failure to address Slasher, just as you don't get the CEO of a major retailer on the line when you have a complaint at a much lower level.
I am just curious what precisely makes you strike such an aggravated tone with the organization in terms of its media operations and message control?

For the record I like the part where you equated Slasher with Bob Woodward.
