I made this post on reddit and it got immediately downvoted so I wanted to to post it on TL to get more feedback. It might be against forum rules idk but I'm really annoyed by this and I feel like many others aren't. This is a guy I responded to on steam dota2 forums
I'm Russian, and I didn't like play at Russian server, cause at our server too many school boys and emo. Thats why I play at EU, but talking at English. If Valve block for Russian EU server, I think many ppl just stop play in this game and for professianal players it would be problem too. And about Russian skill in Dota 2 I think Russian players at second place after Chinese, you always flame about Russian feeders because you just don't like us.
People like who, you may talk some English but many of us can barely comprehend what you are trying to say. Even your English in your post was hard to understand, so when you start talking english in games and we don't understand you, many of you revert back to spamming Russian in chat and mic. It's Russians like you are the reason I am no longer playing Dota2. Sure Dota is a better game than League of Legends I'll admit that, but I would rather play a worse game than a game with people like you corrupting EU-english speaking servers with your Russian chat disease just because you don't want to play on your own servers and refuse to speak English on EU servers.
I've met many good Russian players so I'm not flaming about skill. But when you come to play on EU servers you must speak English or there must be an option to report and ban someone for not speaking English or just totally remove global region play. Because it is so horrible to play where the whole chat and mic spam is in Russian and you have no idea what they are saying you feel so left out in the game, what kind of gaming expierence is that for a team orientated game. Sure the chat wheel was a nice inclusion but it's not enough. There needs to be tougher measures to ensure everyone is talking English on EU servers.
I've had only a few truely epic games in Dota that weren't clouded by Russian chat disease, I think the game has potential to be truely amazing but since this Russian problem has been going on for almost a year now I have no faith in valve that they even care to fix this issue, or that they even believe it is a problem to begin with because the Russian playerbase probably outnumbers everyone else for them to care. So long as all the Russians are playing and buying stuff from the Dota store why would Valve care right?
I hope League of Legends continues to have success and I hope all that's left in Dota is a Russian cesspool.

Russians behaving like that is just a stereotype. You get all sorts of obnoxious people from all around EU speaking their own languages and refusing to communicate to the rest of the team.

A) If your really can't deal with russians play as 5 B) I don't think you have a reasonable expectation of english on EU servers. NA servers, sure, but not EU. C) Bad thread, close please.

To my knowledge every player in a country from EU has spoken English in all the games I've played. So why is it only Russians spam chat and mic in Russian? Am I the only one annoyed by this because the majority of the games I play with are with Russians? I soloq and this won't be the same if you play with friends.
From what I've experienced the level of English of Russians when compared to other EU countries is really bad. I've just had such bad experiences with Russian Dota players I can't get why other people don't seem to feel the same?

In an 10-men game, what if 8 of them are Russian, is it still required that you have to speak English in that particular game?
Maybe we are the minority in EU server, and Russians are the majority. It's actually our fault for not speaking Russian.

So funny that you mention that,I got told the same thing by a Russian dude yesterday in a game.

You are european russians are european, no reason to complain. i'll get french and russian players on US east servers, that i dont understand, the ping must be awful. actually a french guy complained about lag all game and when i asked him why he would play on US east he said (in the only english he spoke all game) " im not bad, its lag" ??? i don't understand. at least russians get good ping on your servers i don't see any reason to complain. mute them if they speak russian and you don't understand.

Since thread is still alive, This part is the real issue. Brazillians are the same way on NA servers. They clearly realize that nobody likes playing with them (including themselves), but they still queue up on NA servers. That is pretty frustrating.
I mean, I've had good games with Brazillians, but lets be honest here. Not being able to communicate is simply a huge problem in a team game, I don't care where you are from. People with no sound bother me a lot too

That's just selective memory. People having this image of Russians and blaming them for all their problems is just as bad IMO. Just recently I had a game where there were Greeks who totally refused to communicate except among themselves, in Greek of course. They played very poorly, and in the end when the team lost they claimed that "it is impossible to play when there are Russians on your team". No one said even a word in Russian that game, and you could only tell that they were Russians from their names.

Untill you played a considerable amount of games on EU with Russians I don't believe you can understand how horrible it is. When you play on US servers the majority speak English yeah? On EU it's so often Russian spam every game mic also and you have no idea what they are trying to say what plans / strats are going you feel so alienated in a game and I play soloq so it's even worse? Idk feel pointless trying to get this point across to people

Good point maybe we should just fuck off to our own server and leave them to their business. Oh wait.
I just wish there was some safe haven for english speaking people. It's not just Russians that are annoying, spanish speakers and the rest alike.
Would be interesting being able to communicate with your team instead of them either going "noob english motherfucker" or insert hieroglyphs here or something along the lines.

People with no sound bother me a lot too at least when you get brazillians there is a reason. software is so expensive in brazil that they often play free games en masse, so alot of them are bad because they are just kids trying to play any game they can, and they don't know english well since...they are kids. plus you can speak spanish at them and they get all mad because "spanish isn't portuguese we speak a real language".

about 10-15% do (the adults). the vast majority of brazilians are school aged children. who can only speak portugese. but again i understand this reason and I'm fine with the non english portugese spoken on US servers. it's when you get russian/french (seem to be the most common non english speaking not from the americas) that i get confused.

well about half of the people in the EU can't speak english... better prevent those from getting a beta key lol
