But ask me more about "wurk" when we're back in Washington, I have to remember how to trot on command! I think Pence chooses to not be involved in anything because he wants to avoid going down when reality catches up with Trump. Remember, he may well turn out to be the 46e Potus before Trumps term is up.
|
Also, the less news Pence makes, the better for Pence. Right now he exists in contrast to Trump, so he seems passable. But even a tiny trip into the history of Pence as a governor shows he is just bad at the job. People forget that the man was voted out by the people who voted him in.
Edit: I’m pretty sure that would be an illegal order if someone told them to fire Iranian ships. Mattis has a hard job that will only get harder as these stories start coming out.

.... he wants to start a war to save his ass.
|
To be fair though he also doesn't want to be fighting im Somalia and Afghanistan and those wars are pretty much all Mattis.
|
There a huge distance between those two operations and firing on Iran’s navy.

jesus christ, does the white house not have a single fucking person that is capable of answering a question without trying to get around it or lying through their teeth?

When you constantly do dumb shit that then gets exposed you keep looking like a fool. The trick is to not do dumb shit in the first place so you can tell the truth and look smart. But that is to much to ask for the highest office in the country.

this was not the border wall i expected

This is why I totally think we could maybe just skip right to Il Duce's victory parade, and it's a lot less harm done.

The US also has this weird culture of just smiling and saying nothing when being asked hard questions by a journalist. The video of the diplomat guy in the netherlands shows this very well. One quite often sees a video of some politician being asked a question, and instead of answering, just kind of smiling in an arrogant way and not saying a word, either walking away or asking for the next question.
|
I’ve seen a couple US politicians be dumbstruck by going to the EU and experiencing reporters who will just ask the same question over and over until they get an answer. But most of our “News” networks are just a talking head factor that just pump out talking points.
|
I've been waiting for nearly a year for a reporter to actually ask Trump fundamental questions, even just to confirm reports previously given. I don't know if they're subservient or what, but there is a definite lack of follow-up. It seems Trump can literally just fly away and physically dodge from ever answering a serious question on so many troubling stories and allegations. Which says he's guilty, of course, but it's pathetic to see the media relatively comply with this selective amnesia.
|
To be fair to reporters in the US on Trump, it is impossible for them to get an interview with him. The last time someone got an interview it was a Times reporter that didn’t even know Trump allow himself to be interview answer questions and had not prepared at all.

its not just that, if you guys watch the daily brief all they do is dodge.
I can't count the number of times someone asked 'what is the WH going to do if congress cant pass anything on DACA by march 5th'
And it is always responded with 'we fully expect congress to act'

And the rates have to go up. There's way too much money floating around in the economy. The Fed is probably behind on raising rates, and we're about to hit a round of inflation.

Yeah, this is the only time I will feel bad for Trump because he is going to get blamed and this is one thing that is 100% not his fault
