I simply can’t remember when is the last time i heard the GOP take a position that was not fucking outrageous on basically any subject. There is an issue? Chose the single worst position possible et voilà! you succesfully predicted what the Trump administration is gonna do.

Well before the Trump era, I've always found the moral-relativism of Republicans on issues such as this, environmental etc, to be hysterically hypocritical in relation to their "social issue" dogma. We want to wax sanctity about fetuses and the like, but we will never let common protests impede almighty business from venturing over all life as we know it.

I think it is generally assumed that we aren't at war for some totally benign reason. If we are sending a bunch of dudes to get killed in some foreign country, it is probably not the sort of program you cut from a budget.

But we are at war, even if the leadership likes to pretend otherwise. We are bombing several countries at this time. Assisting in Syria and still have troops deployed in Afghanistan. The current Republicans are just like the ones during the Bush era that doesn’t want to pull out of these wars, but also don’t want to levy the taxes necessary to support them. So much so that the pentagon is saying that the tax cuts are irresponsible.

Chose the single worst position possible et voilà! you succesfully predicted what the Trump administration is gonna do. they pretty much are these days. you'd have to go back aways to find something different, or look at some of the state GOP orgs that are more reasonable (typically the ones in more left-leaning states where they have to be somewhat different in order to have a chance).
of course you tend to hear about the crazy stuff more than the not-crazy stuff; so there might be a few sane positions that you don't hear about because they're boring and/or universally agreed upon so there's not much to say.

Biggest personal disappointment since Dustin Hoffman. Even if the photo is a joke -- way wrong. And the way she describes his kissing her is pretty bad. It's looking like the end for Al Franken.

Assuming the story accurately represents events he should resign.

God damn it Al! there goes a potential dem runner for 2020.
What is the correct protocol for this stuff? Do they finish out their term and then don't run again? Do they get removed?

Helping darken the line between politician and entertainer is a needed and good thing, party identification of the accused notwithstanding.

Franken had been in my mental top 5 for "who on the hill is a predator?" since those stories started. Now that one (sitting congressman) has been named, let's get the rest?

Doesn't it depend on the amount of backlash and what the person feels like doing? It doesn't sound like there's any legal action coming so he can finish out his term if he wants, but probably with no Dem support and no Dem funding. With $15 million paid out because of congressional sexual harassers I can't imagine anyone is willing to point the figure and try to forcibly remove him from office.
