Comey’s written account of the meeting is two pages long and highly detailed, the associates said. The details of Comey’s notes of the meeting were first reported by The New York Times.
Officials have previously said that Trump and his senior staff have been pressing the FBI to prioritize leak investigations over the bureau’s ongoing probe into possible coordination between Russian officials and Trump associates. On Tuesday, people close to the matter said Comey kept detailed notes of his multiple conversations with Trump.

If Comey felt it was a threat, then it is. Comey's actions after the discussion clearly support it that argument. His firing after detailing the investigation of Flynn to congress also backs it up. The deputy FBI director also testified before congress in a manner that says "I won't work for the FBI much longer". What are the odds that Trump fires the deputy FBI director as well? Sessions was interviewing people to be an interim director, so 100%.

Honest to god, there is nothing totally catastrophic to American security and democracy with this? it's a highly partisan situation; and the people who talk more in threads and online discussion tend to be more crazed partisans than reasonable people. also, since the site skews liberal, the conservatives feel a need to correct the sometimes overblown statements some of the liberals make.
lots of rationalization too as well.

I see a question mark here, can we take this as a demand?

Why did we have to choose between two such horrible people in 2016? one of them was far less horrible than the other; and was far better at handling classified info than the other. so it's not really a fair comparison. also, becasue the system is setup to measure support, not to measure opposition. things like approval voting would fix that. If approval voting was used in primaries wouldn't the US system be kinda close to France's? it would end up quite a bit more similar to france, aye. iirc how the french system works. you can also use approval voting to eliminate primaries entirely (as with approval voting it's fine to have many people running at once, not ideal, but quit efeasible, and we'd all love a shorter election season)

Come on Trump. You KNOW you want to tweet something about those tapes again. Something threatening Comey. Even if you have to wait until 3 a.m. when they give your phone back. DO IT. I believe in your capacity to show your "alpha male" abilities.

This morning Trump was starting a Tweet storm about 'Director' Comey. Read it carefully. It just trails off. There was never a followup tweet after the .... Makes me think someone warned him not to finish that tweet storm.

That's extremely intellectually dishonest. When your boss says that he hopes that you can let something go, he's not asking you. He's telling you. And when he fires you for not letting it go, it's even more clear.

I imagine Kellyanne getting an alert on her phone, sprinting down a long corridor, smashing the door down with her shoulder and tackling Donald as his phone goes flying through the air.

After this memo, I'm almost 100% sure the next tweet was going to be "and stop with this Russia stuff" or something to that effect.
I'm sure xDaunt could still find a way to make that not asking Comey to end the investigation though (the request is in a separate clause!).

So the NYT usually warns big politicians hours before they go live with last minute questions. Obama tended to know. Hillary tended to know. Trump just dropping his train of shitflinging at Comey all of sudden makes me think he knew.

If Comey has records on everything then this is going to get worse for Trump before it gets better.
This whole thing is funny because Trump may have created an avenue through which to impeach him. It's entirely possible, if not likely, that anything that came out of the Russia investigation, while looking bad, would not get him in much trouble personally. What could fuck him though? Trying to prematurely obstruct said investigation because you don't like it or think it's fake news.
Plus by firing Comey and making an enemy out of the entire intelligence apparatus you open the door for damning leaks about other things. If Trump actually asked to imprison a reporter then, imo, he's officially fucked and loses all official support in Washington.

Strap yourselves in boys and girls. If you thought Fox and everyone right of them, as well as his surrogates, was desperately trying to discredit Comey after his firing...you're about to see what TRUE desperation is.
I'm sure we'll hear that "well, all them Democrats wanted him fired, so they shouldn't believe these stupid memos!" among other things. With the White House carefully avoiding ever saying it directly because absolutely everything in them will be 100% true.

I won't be surprised if something else comes out that actually confirms that Trump fired Comey to impede the investigation, but this isn't it.
EDIT: For the record, I think that the most likely explanation for all of this is that Trump fired Comey because he was moving too slowly on the leaks, but Trump failed to fully appreciate the optics of the termination.

Just so everyone knows, as far as I can tell moving too slowly on the leaks was not listed at all in any of the official paperwork related to Comey's firing.
I'm glad everyone on both sides of the aisle can agree they made up a bunch of gibberish to conceal their true motivations, though! What a great consensus.

Just another piece of the puzzle here. Remember Trump talking about how Comey and him discussed how he wasn't under investigation? The in person meeting at the White House, most likely the one described in the memo, was explicitly about whether Comey would be keeping his job. At the very moment of 'will Comey be fired or not', Trump pushes to try and shut down the Flynnvestigation. This dinner is going to be pivotal over the next week.
Mr. Trump said one of the three times was at a dinner with Mr. Comey, which Mr. Trump said was requested by the director with the aim of keeping his job. The two other times were over the phone, one initiated by Mr. Comey and one by Mr. Trump, the president said. It was during one of those phone calls that Mr. Trump said he asked Mr. Comey questions about the investigation.
