Now with several officers shot in Dallas..this is just awful.
I haven't seen my big sister cry like that since she was a kid and seeing a strong 42 year old woman having a nervous breakdown like that...just caught me off guard.

No. I treat cops with the exact same amount of respect I treat random people. If I feel they pulled me over for no reason, I'm not polite. This is just stupid. I mean it's your prerogative to do this, but is there any actual reasoning behind it or is it just big talk for the internet? I'm Australian. We don't have the same kinds of problems with our police force as America, but I'm more polite/courteous to cops (even when I'm being inconvenienced) than a random person for a few reasons. a) I'm not a dick b) They're doing tough but necessary work and I want them to continue doing so c) They have the ability to seriously fuck up my day if I act like a dick to them d) I'm not a dick Even if it "feels" like you've been pulled over for no reason, they probably have one and even if they don't being respectful and courteous will absolutely minimise the chance that you have any issues. Why wouldn't you want that? That said, the Minneapolis incident looks absolutely awful. Absolutely abhorrent police work at best. I'm a grown ass man and people get the exact amount of respect they earn. Maybe the cop is just applying this exact principle to you. by randomly pulling someone over? Who says it's random? Just because you're not aware of their motives? I've been targeted before. Had a cop follow me for 20 minutes to the middle of nowhere just to pull me over once I reached a mates house and asked to see my license. I was driving an old bomb and he probably thought it was stolen, but it doesn't really matter. I was annoyed at being followed for so long, but I greeted him politely, he was short but professional and I was on my way in minutes. If I'd given him a blasting because I couldn't control myself I imagine the encounter would have gone quite differently. Keeping your emotions in check is never a bad idea. And to be absolutely clear this is in no way justification for cops shooting people. because plansix was talking about being pulled over without reason you're scenario is perfectly legit... Okay, I repeat it for you: Who says it's random? Just because you're not aware of their motives? I have been pulled over in Germany a fair number of times, sometimes I had an idea why, sometimes I don't. So what? Show your papers and whatever they want to see, be nice, and try to get it done as fast as possible. If I would every time question them about their motives and decide to be a dick, cuz I don't agree with them... I guess I could easily multiply my time spent with them. But seriously, they have probably better things to do after realizing that there is nothing wrong with me, and I also have better things to do, so let's just hurry up. Oh and I probably also make life a bit better for the next guy meeting those cops. But nah, the grown ass man has to show his hostility right away, and then be surprised that they don't play nice either suddenly. If a random stranger asks you for directions, you don't go all "yes sir, right over there sir", you give them directions. If a cop pulls you over and asks you a question, you answer the question. If the cop is rude as fuck or asking you to do something they don't have the right to demand, you should not be like "yer sir, of course, whatever you want". A cop violating your rights is not acceptable on the basis of being a cop. The only thing keeping you from calling them out is either annoyance (they could make your day longer or some other bullshit) or fear (death or beaten). So when you get pulled over in Germany and you don't understand why a cop is asking you to do something and you'd like to hear their reasoning, do you expect to get beaten or shot? Or if you comply with their demands but they don't like your tone/attitude, do you expect to get beaten or shot. Don't fucking defend these assholes who abuse their authority. I would never do that "blabla sir" or German equivalent, no. And I also know my rights quite well enough to defend them. Also cops in Germany are quite unlikely to shoot you ![]() But at the same time I also don't question them for pulling me over. Because at least under German law, they don't have to give me a reason for pulling me over. (they just call it Routinekontrolle and done) They are also allowed to check my ID anytime. And they are also allowed to do an alcohol test, if I'm driving. And if they really feel like searching the car. Well... they are actually allowed to. And I prefer to actually help them to quicken the process. And we usually got along well. They noticed they got the wrong dude, I noticed they got the wrong dude, we had some talk, they moved on, I moved on. If I would have went full hostile, just because I'm getting checked again for no reason.... well, gonna be a long day.

Already beset by a public outcry over the high-profile death of a black man in police custody and a rising murder rate, Baltimore's police department is facing another headache: it's shrinking fast. ReutersThe number of uniformed officers in the mid-Atlantic city fell 6.1 percent last year and has shrunk by even more in the first half of this year, according to police data seen by Reuters and not previously reported. The fall in 2015 was the biggest decline in police numbers among nine comparably-sized U.S. cities reviewed by Reuters. The police force in Detroit and El Paso shrank by 4.9 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively, while Denver and Las Vegas saw increases of over 5 percent. The reasons for the fall are unclear, but it comes at a difficult time when the number of murders and other violent crimes have risen sharply in Baltimore and many other U.S. cities. Dallas Four officers are dead — three Dallas police officers and one DART transit officer — after two snipers opened fire on police at the end of a protest against nationwide officer-involved shootings Thursday night, officials say. NBCEleven officers were shot by gunmen who were still at large hours after what was believed to be a coordinated shooting, according to Dallas Police Chief David Brown. One person is in custody, Dallas police said, following an exchange of gunfire with Dallas SWAT officers late Thursday. Dallas police said a suspicious package was located near that person, and the package is being investigated by bomb squad personnel. We believe that these suspects were positioning themselves to triangulate on our officers and planned to injure and kill as many law enforcement officers as they could," Brown said at a press conference Thursday night. Dead following a protest and rally for those dead black men in the police shootings. Now police are shot. So sad.

Can the video be posted here? ![]() it's very chilling. the shooter is behind a pillar firing to the left, a cop comes up to the next pillar in the row to the right (behind the shooter). but just as the cop reaches the pillar he ducks down and looks around the right side of it. the shooter went around the left side when the cop was looking around the right side and shoots the cop in the back at least twice from no more than 5 feet away, probably closer, and then shoots him again when he's on the ground. i wish i hadn't watched it.

It was only a matter of time until someone goes "vigilante mode" and shoots a bunch of police officers to extract "justice for the fallen". There's a new police murder or brutality case every couple weeks and in nearly all of them the Cop is in the wrong. It's really hard to blame the cop completely though. Because in nearly every single one of the shootings, the victim is armed. Police in the USA get to deal with the world's most heavily armed civilian population and that absolutely makes every single traffic stop or arrest infinitely riskier and more stressful. My personal opinion is all the police shooting cases and every mass shooting is a direct result of POTUS, The Senate and Congress doing nothing to fix the glaringly obvious gun problem.

The chief also basically said that he and the mayor are going to be making the decision whether to keep negotiating or to send in SWAT to take the guy out very soon.
