It's just that we were in here when it started? Nah. IMO it's just another reason to bump the "If you're seeing this topic then another mass shooting happened and people disagree on what to do" thread. To be brutally and completely honest, I have been waiting for something like this to happen. It was only a matter of time until someone goes "vigilante mode" and shoots a bunch of police officers to extract "justice for the fallen". There's a new police murder or brutality case every couple weeks and in nearly all of them the Cop is in the wrong. It's really hard to blame the cop completely though. Because in nearly every single one of the shootings, the victim is armed. Police in the USA get to deal with the world's most heavily armed civilian population and that absolutely makes every single traffic stop or arrest infinitely riskier and more stressful. My personal opinion is all the police shooting cases and every mass shooting is a direct result of POTUS, The Senate and Congress doing nothing to fix the glaringly obvious gun problem. I actually thought that in most cases it turns out that the cops were in the right, like 90% of times.
99%+ if you take their word for it. Part of the problem is that basically anything is a justification.
Also they can do everything wrong up until the point they "justly" shoot someone and it's still considered a legit shoot.

The chief also basically said that he and the mayor are going to be making the decision whether to keep negotiating or to send in SWAT to take the guy out very soon. The one who sounded psychotic with the "bombs everywhere" talk? If possible, they should flashbang and gas that guy until he passes out so these people can all be skewered publicly by the justice system. I also hope they got the right people in the Mercedes since I guess the open-carry guy from earlier wasn't involved.

The former Hostage Negotiator on MSNBC said it best. A country with 320 million people but also 300 million guns. It's not just a math problem but a social problem as well.

MSNBC has now said that, but I don't know that we've heard from the PD. Though I would think they're probably too busy to bother.

They know he's innocent, if they had time to put it up they got time to take it down. The video of him handing over his gun like his brother said was out 4 hrs ago, he turned himself in, they need to get it down.

Explosion just heard at Parking Garage.

Are they rooting for war? Shouldn't they at least find out who actually did the shooting first?
|
In the US Media in a nutshell which is fear sells. Responsible coverage is for the other news outlets usually out of the country.

Did a bomb actually go off?
This isn't even war it's just domestic terrorism at this point

This is hilarious. Civies get gunned down, profiled, rights stomped on, and you don't hear much, and if you do there's a ton of victim-blaming and deference to totalitarian asshats. Suddenly, a few get killed and shot, and you hear cries war and mass outrage. Some animals are more important on the animal farm - don't you know? By the way, this goes way beyond any black or white shit. Cops are out of control. How soon we have forgotten how they burned alive Christopher Dorner and how corrupt and criminal the LA guys are. When you militarize the police and subjugate the population it's only a matter of time until something like this happens unless of course your citizens are emasculated (read: gun control).
I wonder how many people would sign up for the NKVD (read: cops) if they all feared not coming home after every stop. There is certainly no political will to reign in the militarization of police in this country and no accountability by local authorities. Perhaps Solzhenitsyn teachings won't go to waste.
Just like Dorner the cops are going to spin this as "fear for your safety!!!!" when the only people they're going after are the police.

I think the main reason is due to how paranoid this country is about everything. The Police have been trained to think everyone is a threat yet they have not been trained in basic first aid or even calming down situations rather it seems they go for their gun as the Thin Blue Line is rarely messed with. And are infallible.
Just wait till the Politicians running for office get a hold of this.
