It is normally the candidate themselves that has a large infrastructure set up, you know from running their primary campaign.

That and the GOP has to help with all the state and local elections nationwide. Putting together a winning primary and general election team is part of the process of becoming president. The people who work on getting the president elected normally go on to become part of the administration. When the president gets to the White House, it doesn’t have any staff beyond the people who care for the White House itself.

I'm sure trump will get the money from somewhere. People are overreacting in hysteria like usual.

The last time around Romney has 100 million cash on hand by this point. He was fully staffed up and ready to go. People are not being hysterical. This is comically bad.
That and the FEC filing of what Trump has spent his money on is hilarious.

Why are we comparing tp Romney who pathetically failed? Money doesn't exclusively win you the election. I think trump proved that in the primaries. It builds into his narrative that "i perform the best and i spend the least".
The thing is he has access to money, whether directly from himself or his company or through potential donors. I wouldn't really call this a travesty yet.

Don't belittle his campaign just because he lost. Remember that 59+ Million people voted for Romney despite him losing while only 54+ million people voted for reagan when he won against mondale. Obama just did better than Romney, that doesn't mean his campaign failed to perform.

He spent money with an ad agency named after the one in Mad Men. He's paying himself a salary.

Can you elaborate on what he spent money on? There are a bunch of Trump related services, including Trump Quality Wine. 23K was paid to some company called wizbangsolution.com for “device services”. Their webpage was a joy to view. Just some real quality comedy.
But a ton of Trump related services and other services that he appears to own. I am sure people will dig into it more, but a lot of the money seems to go right into Trump business ventures.

Its so weird seeing republicans demonize Romney. He was the party's hope at a future. But because he lost, it's as if he's a complete nobody. Imagine if the GOP fashioned itself after Romney. They'd probably be well positioned right now.

U.s population was significantly less in 1980 than today. Reagan did better percentage wise than Romney did. About a half percent better to be exact.
If you compare to the 1984 election, Reagan did 4.31% better than romney did in 2012.

I wouldn't consider myself strictly republican. I always hated Romney and voted for Gary Johnson the last election.

Bernie is playing this thing really, really poorly. He is almost entirely irrelevant at this point. Clinton machine going about its business and absolutely wiping the floor with Trump. I really wish he would integrate himself. He needed Trump to be somewhat viable.

So you want Donald Trump, the Apprentice Mentor himself to be commander in chief? Ah, so you're an immigration voter? LOL I'd bet $50 right now that you care most about immigration w/r/t Trump. That's all Trumpkins have to go on. Just lol at the notion you want him to be commander in chief. He's not even an impressive businessman.
I am going to have a LOT of fun rubbing in Trump's loss in November (and for 6 months after that).

Obama just did better than Romney, that doesn't mean his campaign failed to perform. It's the electoral college system in this republic. Reagan won twice as many states for two and a half times Romneys count of electors. False historical comparisons aside, Trump better lay the foundation for a national campaign and raise enough dough to make even a shoestring budget hold. He can't ride the free press train forever in battleground states.

Trump is breaking all the rules, including the one about no such thing as bad press

It keeps getting better. Reporters fund presidential campaign trips. "Most Americans don’t know that reporters finance the bulk of presidential candidates’ campaign travel, by buying seats on the candidate’s charter plane." Trump is flying to Scotland to be there for a ribbon cutting ceremony on one of his properties. Trump is selling tickets on his charter plane for $10,000 a piece to reporters to go watch him to generate Trump stories. The entire scampaign is just a ruse to make some cash and build his brand.
"Cost to reporters: $10,000 round trip, plus hotel and restaurant bills, which will probably be racked up at the two Trump-themed venues they’ll be visiting — if anyone signs up."

Still, he's loaned his campaign about 40m. Nickel and diming reporters isn't going to make him whole.

If he starts collecting more public funds, we are going to get into this ethically gray area where he is sending campaign donations to his own businesses for services. I am sure the FEC is not excited about digging into that mine field.
