Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) did something a little unorthodox for lawmakers Wednesday. During a House Armed Services Committee hearing, he offered an amendment he didn't actually want to support. The amendment required women register for the draft. "I regretfully introduce this amendment," Hunter said, noting later he might not vote for it. "My daughters talk about serving. My son talks about serving, but I don't want to put my daughters in a place where they have to get drafted." Hunter is deeply opposed to women in combat. Earlier this year he said the efforts of Navy Secretary Ray Mabus to open up Marine combat positions for women made him a "a greater threat to the Marine Corps than ISIS.” Hunter seemed to want to use his amendment on drafting women to force the issue, hoping other lawmakers would finally see the light. And so it fell to Hunter to highlight just how gruesome the draft would be for women. "The draft is there to get more people to rip the enemies' throats out and kill them...That is what a draft is for," Hunter said. Unfortunately for Hunter, a lot of Members on the committee thought requiring women to sign up for the draft was a pretty good step forward on the equality front. The amendment passed 32 to 30. There are currently 12 women serving on the committee. "While you may be offering this as a gotcha amendment," Rep. Jackie Spier (D-CA) said. "I would suggest that there is great merit in recognizing that each of us have an obligation to be willing to serve our country in time of war." Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-MA) said "gender equality is achieved when women and men enjoy the same rights, the same opportunities and the same obligations across all sectors of society and that includes military service." Hunter appeared to be frustrated at some points with the direction of the discussion so he tried even harder to emphasize just how miserable the draft would be for women. Source

That is the best of all worlds - I think tying yourself down to Christianity will never win you another election in the US. Whenever I hear almost any hardline republican talk like Ted Cruz talk, I really ask myself, how can anyone possibly like this guy? His views are from the 18th century, and I don't know a single person on the internet who supports him, and nobody can give me a logical argument to support him besides to not let Trump get into power. And that's why Trump is doing so well in my opinion, he's removed the religion completely. Trump is democrat on social issues, while he's a Republican on economic and security issues, that's what the world needs. So when people say he's not really a Republican, I'd tend to agree, and I think that will take him far. How is he a republican on security issues everything he said in his foreign policy speech is against conservative foreign policies for the last few decades? And what economic issues has He even taken a stance on? His build a wall to keep out the mexicans is basicaly neo-nazi. His insistence on bringing back manufacturing jobs to america goes clearly against the free trade politics that are also conservative. Nothing about the guy is a republican.

One of life's little ironies (though obviously it's because he is a lot more vocal about his misogyny). He is doubling down on his sexism today now that he knows he is facing Hilary.

More than 60 percent of the American public has an unfavorable opinion of the Republican Party, an increase from last fall and the highest that the party’s negative rating has been since 1992. Sixty-two percent of Americans have an unfavorable impression of the GOP compared to 33 percent who view the party favorably, according to a Pew Research Center study released Thursday. That’s a more negative image of the party than in October, when there was a split of 58 percent unfavorable to 37 percent favorable. American opinion of the Democratic Party, meanwhile, stayed about the same: 45 percent view the party favorably and 50 percent unfavorably. That leaves a quarter of the public with a negative view of both parties, an increase from past presidential election years. Pew found that the falling image of the GOP mostly came from people who identified as Republican, 68 percent of whom had a favorable view of their own party versus 79 percent in October. In contrast, 88 percent of Democrats have a favorable view of their own party. And more independents – 37 percent to 28 percent – have a favorable image of the Democratic Party compared to the GOP. Lol, Trump attacks everyone: https://medium.com/@prenticemathew/trump-isn-t-sexist-you-are-76c76f5d8d49#.1e5bmtmku I guarantee you that Trump is definitely the least sexist of everyone who ran in the Republican primary. If you think Trump is a sexist, you don't do any of your own research and just get fed what the media tells you. Trump is not a racist, it's not being a mexican or being muslim that makes you bad. What makes you bad, is if you practice radical Islam, or you have some messed up values due to a poor education system is Mexico (not that US is amazing or anything), and he doesn't want people with disagreeable cultural beliefs in USA. It has nothing to do with their skin color (i.e. your race). Anyway, it's frustrating discussing with a lot of people, because they have all these biased notions of Trump that aren't true, or are heavily exaggerated. Probably not worth arguing, but how is Trump a bigot? He's very open to other people's ideas, and it goes to show that it's true just being seeing how he's changed his opinion on several issues.

Manipulating the masses by exploiting racism isn't racism imo. It's manipulation. I don't think trump holds racist views. It's not much different from Democrats pretending to believe in god

It turns out "favorability" polling doesn't mean what most laymen think it does since the GOP controls more seats in Congress, more governors, and more state legislatures.

And Trump is racist. No amount of you saying "not its just not true" is going to change my opinion on that subject either. What if Trump says horrible things about women, mexicans, but also about men and whites? Does he then cease to be a sexist/racist? What if, instead of being sexist/racist, Trump is simply an asshole, and says horrible things about anyone who's on the opposite side of him, no matter who they are?

Trump is sexist because he says sexist shit all the item and never backs down. He just credited all Hilary’s accomplishments to her being a woman and nothing else. And refuses to back off from that point. And Trump is racist. No amount of you saying "not its just not true" is going to change my opinion on that subject either. Trump said that all Hillary has is the woman card. In a similar manner to how many Dota 2 streamers only have the woman card to attribute to their personality, you can argue that a big reason for Hillary's success is getting women to vote for her, and a big part of it is simply because she's a woman. Here is poll that shows these findings as well: http://mediamatters.org/blog/2016/01/29/what-polling-data-actually-shows-about-hillary/208277 It's undeniably true that she wouldn't be where she is if she wasn't a woman, but perphaps we just have some fundamental things we will never agree on.

I think in the longterm his speech is beneficial, because there's people who are able to obtain the message from what he says, pass that down to other people, and thus his message gets across while also getting credit for speaking his mind.
