I personally do not think she'll be going with Julian Castro, even though he's currently a favorite on betting markets. He's not experienced enough yet, and I just don't see him delivering much to the ticket. He's Hispanic, but he doesn't speak Spanish well. I'm absolutely certain Sanders won't be picked -- not only would this open the ticket to countless lines of attack from the GOP based on Sanders' image, it would also allow Republicans to endlessly replay clips of Sanders attacking Clinton -- something they're already planning on doing, but which will have even more of an impact if Sanders is on the ticket. He wouldn't bring much anyway, since most of his supporters are already ready to support her, many more will follow suit, and the few most radical #BernieorBust supporters would probably not vote for her even if he was her VP. There's no way she's picking him. Right now, my top three are Tom Perez, Tim Kaine and Sherrod Brown, with Tom Perez currently being my first guess. All have strengths and weaknesses. Kaine and Brown are both senators, and I don't know if Hillary is willing to risk sacrificing their seats when Democrats have an opportunity to re-take the senate. Perez has not held an elected office above a seat in a suburban county council. At the same time, he's been fantastic as labor secretary, he's a policy wonk who's likely to do more than hold his own in the VP debate, labor unions love him, he's charismatic, he's a Hispanic who's fluent in Spanish... He isn't tied to a swing state, though, contrary to Brown who's representing Ohio and Kaine who's representing Virginia. What do you guys think? Here's a poll, mostly using the popular picks from the betting website I linked to above: Poll: Who will be Hillary's VP pick? Elizabeth Warren (4) Julian Castro (3) Tom Perez (2) Sherrod Brown (1) Cory Booker (1) Bernie Sanders (1) Mark Warner (1) Al Franken (1) Tim Kaine (0) Deval Patrick (0) Gary Locke (0) Someone else (explain in comments) (0) 14 total votes Your vote: Who will be Hillary's VP pick? (Vote): Julian Castro

Much of the discussion – and laughs – focused on Boehner’s views on the current presidential candidates. Segueing into the topic, Kennedy asked Boehner to be frank given that the event was not being broadcasted, and the former Speaker responded in kind. When specifically asked his opinions on Ted Cruz, Boehner made a face, drawing laughter from the crowd. “Lucifer in the flesh,” the former speaker said. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.” Boehner described other Republican candidates as friends. In particular, the former speaker said he has played golf with Donald Trump for years and that they were “texting buddies.” His friendship with Ohio Governor John Kasich, however, was a little more ambiguous. “[Kasich] requires more effort on my behalf than all my other friends … but he’s still my friend, and I love him,” Boehner said. God it's just so amazing. People had jobs and now they don't because his message wasn't working. What was the case he's trying to make again?

Seems like some of the R party members at the very least agree with me. I think a big thing is that republicans feel embarrassed. Here comes a democrat, says a bunch of racist, divisive, chest beating stuff, and is suddenly a winner. He exploited the most hushed aspects of the republican voter base and ran away with it. The fact that he's a democrat doesn't seem to faze people (and they probably don't even know) because he is saying a ton of angry shit and people are really angry. This being from a party that is constantly vying for dominance in the world's most powerful country? God's own chosen country? That's ridiculous. Cruz is at least sort of "one of them".

If he wins, he'd be able to re-hire many of them for the general. I guess you can call this "irony" if you want. His whole point of his campaign is that the rich steal everything and if people follow his shit, he'll create millions of jobs and we'll ride off into the socialist sunset, happy and cared for. But he is failing to even employ his own message. He hit the wall we were predicting he'd hit months ago. But Bernistas kept insisting polling was wrong and revolution and uh, uh, oligarchy. Then polls were really accurate. And now Bernie is laying people off.

but on the positive side, at least they are paying some of their internet trolls with revolution messaging. it's pretty low quality content though. most productive use of sanders energy would be to refocus his complaints and really try to get a more effective tax system vs international capital, so that plans to redistribute gains from trade can be devised. it's really asking for too much though given what we've seen from his grasp of the subject
