When you make up less than 4-5% of population of course you're not going to feature prominently in the local culture, especially when those cultures go back thousands of years when the percentage of population was less than 0.25% (e.g. why Aristotle is a pillar of western philosophy...I'm sure there were a ton of blacks in Greece during that time /sarc). A lot of people don't like SJW's because their argumentation is disingenuous and has a huge double standard, and secondly, they're extremely overzealous. As for female protagonists. Well, I assume you're only talking about action/sci-fi genres since females are well represented in comedy/rom-coms/etc. Anyways, I wonder if you happen to have forgot about 2 of the most influential and popular sci-fi franchises in history have female protagonists (Alien & Terminator). There's a very large difference between pointing out bad representation in general, and attacking individuals involved in currently popular media or recent events. You can have good motives but bad methods, and people who do nothing but attack targets over the internet definitely have the latter. | ||

You'll notice, however, that every one of the 4 fucking sequels to Terminator made the main character a male character. Ironically enough Sanders had his best Black American turnout in none other than Texas. Expect a sharp increase in his POC numbers in the next poll that reflects this weekend. O'Malley getting booed off stage and everything that followed just put Bernie on millions of POC's radar for the first time. There was a lot of back and forth but Bernie is coming out on top, though there is still a healthy amount of skepticism. | ||

Goodness I really am neck deep in this ish. You're about three cycles behind. There was static, O'Malley got it 100000x worse. There was backlash against the protesters from various sides. There was a more measured response from the protesters. There is skepticism in black communities about Bernie but less than before, we're starting to check our own and let them know we gotta look at the guy as a whole and not be assume he's like the rest. Some people are still being petty about it but him saying this in Dallas was a pretty big deal. | ||

Ya know, I used to not really give much thought to race/class/sex. Then people challenged me and asked why it was that minorities and women are underrepresented in our culture. And I saw this was the case, and that I had only ignored it for so long because the people on the movie screens looked like me and I hadn't noticed. When you notice that this variable you ignored correlates to lots of things, you realize it has descriptive power, and then may go on to realize that it points to injustice. | ||
