Basically, the article says MMA has been kicked out of the Slayers house and got demoted to the B team. MMA is pissed about it and wants to transfer to a foreign team. I can't find any other information about it. All can say is, WTF is going on? it says the detail hasnt been known, but I really hope things get sorted out.
"Slayers stated on the 17th that they demoted MMA to the B team and sent home from the team house. This was officially reported on the 16th, and they did not reveal any more information since it's the team's problems.
MMA was sent home as he was demoted to the B team, but it is unrelated to the GSTL participation.
Currently, it is reported that MMA is disagreeing with the demotion. Slayers stated that MMA wants to transfer to a foreign team without accepting the team's decision. Since the contract is still valid with Slayers, MMA won't be able to move to a foreign team without Slayer's permission. "
ps I read the quote and it seemed very misleading, as the article does not state anything about MMA's nor Crank's behaviors. I apologize.
Translation would be nice. If he leaves he should join IM, not a foreign team.
I can sort-of believe it even though I bet the writer is making stuff up, MMA has not been sent for GSTL much at all this season, favoring Puma and Ryung.
A specific incident (i.e. something bad) must have happened for SlayerS to decide to do this. MMA one of, if not their most, marketable players. Maybe we'll never know what happened.
I knew it was pretty korean fashion to be tough on unshaped players, but why would they demote MMA to B team ? even if he's not playing at his best level, i'm pretty sure he's not that bad atm...
I guess he lost motivation or something, jessica was very proud of him and last time i spoke with him he was really happy in SlayerS...
Wh...Why would this happen? I mean, he's a champion; that's about as far from a B-teamer as you can get. What happened to that heart-melting moment at MLG, when Boxer told MMA to win the tournament for him?
MMA was being a bad boy and getting in trouble disciplinary wise. This has nothing to do with his play. Boxer punished him by sending him down to the B team and asking him to leave the practice house. MMA thinks this is unfair and wants to leave to a foreign team, but he cannot unless he gets permission from Slayers due to his contract. Slayers is not going to tell us why he got punished or what he did wrong.
Edit 1: Seems like Slayers_Crank doesn't like this either, as he has just taken the team name off of his Twitter account along with MMA.
Edit 2: He will still play his Code A match.
This is all very weird as Slayers is in GSTL Semifinals and doing great atm.

Apparently there are internal issues between MMA and the team MMA was demoted to B team (and kicked out of the team house?) MMA is pissed, doesnt accept the demotion to B team and he wants to join a foreign team, MMA still has contract with the team so he cant leave and join a foreign team unless slayers agrees to release him
I remember at the gstl a week or two ago jessica (i think) mentioned that the reason they didn't use mma was because he had been feeling unwell recently and they hoped he would feel well enough to play again in the future. (at least that was wolf's translation.)
Seems odd for them to then demote him to the B-Team a week later -.-
Wow.... what could have happened? I mean his play has been lackluster as of late but the article says its not related to his play... what happened MMA T_____T
Slayers has obviously been on the way out for the past 6 months. My gut tells me that Jessica has a lot to do with it. If she's as much as a psycho publicly, how do you think she treats her staff? Its gotta be a complete nightmare working under that woman.
Wow Jessica is sure a bitch is this is true. I highly doubt this is true. Especially with boxer being the owner it would give him a bad reputation. SlayerS would never allow this to happen especially with the recent success of the pro gamer. He is currently in a slump. If this is the reasoning for MMA to be kicked off the team I will longer support this team. I'll always love Boxer but this is just stupid. MMA I will always be your supporter and fan don't you worry!
no no no god no!!! Slayers get your act together. Please MMA stay on Slayers. If crank changed his tag than this means players are not happy with the teams decision. Please Jessica and Boxer fix this! Edit: Damn I already picked MMA to beat Hero.

Ryung is finally Boxer's favorite....because none of the original terrans are left.
No, but this is actually pretty sad. I was never really an MMA or Slayers fan (outside of Ryung and Boxer himself), but it's sad to see so much of their original lineup go down the tube. Now they've lost their ace :/
MMA sent down to B-Team for some reason and was asked to leave the practice house as a 'punishment'. The reasons are unknown to public, as Slayers decided to not release any word about this situation. His involvement in Code A won't be affected.
MMA at the moment is not accepting these 'punishments' at the moment. Instead of accepting going down to the B-Team, MMA showed interest in transferring to foreign team.

calm down LOL.
we know next to nothing about the entire ordeal.
Olympic gold medal in leaping to conclusions. We really dont know anything.
It's standard practice on Korean pro teams to demote players to B Team if they've been underperforming. Bonjwa Savior and other star players were demoted to B Team for quite awhile.

They just made the GSTL semi-finals, and players like Alicia have been doing great in foreign tournaments.
People, why do you automatically blame Jessica? That's called witchhunt mentality, especially since there was no explicit mention about Jessica yet.
Jessica was seducing MMA when BoxeR wasn't home, MMA really didn't want to betray his father but Jessica forced himself on to him. Boxer walked, MMA screamed in English, "This isn't what it looks like!!". Jessica then told BoxeR that MMA was raping her.

MMA was the definition of Slayers. His tenacious style, drop harass, and brilliance was the embodiment of what Slayers is. I can understand not running him because he hasn't been playing that well recently, but this is man who's sole passion is StarCraft, and for a team with BoxeR, I can't imagine what it was that caused him to drop.

I don't understand. Didn't MMA just win Iron Squid not too long ago? How could anyone say MMA isn't performing? True, he's not doing as well as when he was at his peak but he's not irrelevant. I'll believe this when there's solid proof. ._.;;
Wow, I'm kind of getting tired of Koreans wanting to join foreigner teams. I understand they give generous salaries, but it is the worst thing to do if you want to improve. I really hope he goes to a foreign team that has a contract with a Korean team if he does that, so he can stay in a pro house in Korea for when he's not abroad.

It's not performance related. This is a disciplinary action.
I'm pretty sure that Koreans will figure out what happened soon. Someone from SlayerS would tell a friend who would tell a friend who would spill the whole thing in PlayXP in no time.

It could just be frustration, too. I mean, it can't be easy to go from being most people's pick as the best player in the world to not even making the A-team on a team that you were once the essence of.
Not only that, but the hierarchy of MMA being far and away the best player on SlayerS has kind of changed too with CoCa/Alicia's resurgence, YuGiOh playing well, and Puzzle being Puzzle as well as Ryung showing that he can play just as well as MMA ever could.
I hope it's just frustration. MMA is one of the most entertaining players.

He's probably going through that puberty phase where you get all rebellious against mommy and daddy, changing his name on twitter, saying he's his own man, but soon he'll run back to Jessica's skirt like every little boy.
Hoping we get more information on this. But frankly I haven't really agreed with a lot of decisions that SlayerS have been making and the team has really fallen far from their glory. I don't know, it feels like morale in the house has been dropping a lot due to less than expected individual performances, the departure of Coach Ryu and Boxer's playing hiatus. The fact that Jessica is now their "head manager/coach" and Eve is being marketed so heavily (in Troy photoshoots, etc) rather than the rest of the team also made me feel like there had been things in SlayerS which weren't really going right.
I feel that MMA without SlayerS won't be as good as he was with it. I don't really see him being a top class talent without SlayerS.

I imagine what he did was quite major, otherwise doing something like that to your star player (who has been the star player for so long) is quite a bad idea. It is good to have order in a team, but not so much that you control everything in ways like this. It just ends up offending and annoying the players.
Hopefully everything works out. MMA is such a huge representative of SlayerS.

Although I am not perfect at Korean this is basically the direct translation from the article:
SlayerS have punished their ace of team, the Crown Prine MMA.
SlayerS have reported on the morning of the 17th that MMA has been demoted to B-Team and was told to return home. The punishment was carried out on the 16th and SlayerS did not reveal the exact reasons for the punishment as it was an internal thing within the team.
Despite being demoted to a B-Teamer and forced to go home, MMA will still participate in the upcoming Code A round 2 against HerO.
It is told currently that MMA is resisting the team's punishment. SlayerS said MMA is not accepting the demotion to being a B-Teamer and is currently wanting to move to a foreign team. However because the contract between MMA and SlayerS is still void, MMA needs the approval of SlayerS in order to move to a foreign team.

If a player goes free agent, would they still count as GOM team player or would that be a loop hole for KeSPA teams to recruit with?

Coca got demoted and forced to withdraw from GSL Code S for like 6 months because he tossed a match for Byun. MMA only gets demoted but not withdrawn from GSL so whatever he did is less serious than tossing a match.

Man, TSL and SlayerS have basically reversed their fortunes. Now SlayerS is the team that is losing players left and right who want to join foreign teams, while TSL has a stable team that is doing well in GSTL (Well, applies to SlayerS-EG as well).
SlayerS-EG is doing fine in GSTL. In fact, they will face off against TSL.

I did happen to mention SlayerS-EG in my post, but it appears that SlayerS is having trouble, not the partnership.
It's so sad Slayers basically imploded. They're just bleeding all the good players T.T
On a side note, I wonder how much $$ MMA would be looking for. I've always wanted to own a pro-gaming team. Now that I've got the income and an extra apartment, who knows

An appetizer of drama to start the day! Will the smogasboard come later??
This is my dream scenario: MMA joins EG and the EG/Slayers partnership dissolves. EG teams with a new korean team and then makes it to the final of the GSTL where... they face Slayers! The team trades blows and Slayers leads 4-2. MMA rises and promptly vanquishes the Slayers player with amazing play. Boxer, who has been on incredible form lately, then faces MMA but gets cheesed out and Slayers is in disarray.
I wonder if the EG guys are allowed to say anything about this. They probably know what happened if they're staying in the SlayerS house but maybe they won't want to say to not upset Jessica.
On July 17 2012 11:18 pumpy145 wrote: SlayerS maybe has sponsorship problems like oGs, they lost the support of intel that switched to IM.
SlayerS was never sponsored by Intel. Only BoxeR. SlayerS "big" sponsor for awhile was Razer. Razer switched to MVP at the beginning of the year. Also, I believe most of the "outstanding" (things that aren't able to be covered by sponsorships) team finances comes out of Jessica's pocket.
SlayerS has nothing but Boxer's name, and that name isn't so highly regarded anymore. He's been out of the spotlight for almost a year due to his injury and being bad at the game compared to modern players.
Drama causing an implosion is sad but maybe it'll be for the best. There are just way too many teams right now for there to be enough money to support. There are going to be mergers and teams are going to die until we end up with maybe half the teams currently around, but the new bigger teams will be better funded.

MMA will become the Darth Vader of e-sports.
So does that mean that in the end he will sacrifice himself to save e-sports?!?
Much like jesus, yes.
Jesus is Darth Vader now??? The world doesn't make sense anymore.
With the way things are now, I'm not surprised if MKP and Huk are actually girls anymore.
Cella did mention that Huk is actually a 'secret girl' when he was on SotG a few months back :D
To be honest I'm not that surprised, I always felt this bad boy rebel vibe from MMA and sort of found him antagonistic for some reason. Wonder what was the cause of his demotion though

Suprised no ban from this. Either way, sad to see MMA go, SlayerS is not the same.
I think there needs to be more information. All I know is that MMA got demoted to B-team, decided to leave SlayerS to look for a foreign team, but SlayerS won't let him. Also, what about Crank? Will he leave the team, too? Hopefully SlayerS will make a statement about this soon.
It would be better if he used the frustration of the demotion to inspire him to get back to where he was once at result wise. Instead of wanting to jump ship. Sure I guess him being on a foreign team would be neat, but very unlikely.
I knew Miya somehow plays a role in this mess. there are many times when they sent him out instead of MMA in GSTL and he never stops failing. And this time he probably replaces MMA in the A-team.

If that was the case, which it isn't clear whether it was or not at this point. Its pretty standard practice in Korean pro-teams. Doing poorly, get demoted. Its nothing personal, just business. I don't know if it has contractual ramifications, but getting demoted to the B-Team is not the big deal here :[

Ryung! Ryung! Ryung!
Funny, but also deeply sad. T_T I don't want MMA to leave, and normally I'm not at all emotional about player transfers. Peope were talking about Taeja leaving Slayers like it was a huge deal, but he didn't even live in the house, he wasn't the face of Slayers. But MMA man, him and Boxer were Slayers. Damn.

I love MMA more than SlayerS, but I think MMA had intentions of leaving SlayerS already. No one would want to join a foreign team out of no where, must have thought about it for a while. Maybe if he said he wanted to join a different team and not just a foreign team, it might've sound that he is just reacting without thinking. I just hope MMA will be happy with whatever happens in this situation. It will be kind of awkward if SlayerS won't let him go and he doesn't want to be there. Also, if SlayerS do let him go... just sad for us fans, but it might be for the best because if MMA feels the need to leave and find his passion to whoop some asses again, please do so.
Well, it's Ryung's time to shine MMA's been slumping recently, that's for sure, but I'd also hate him to leave SlayerS as I'm sure is the case with many others as well. #1 son no more.

Or maybe Boxer is Darth Vader and MMA is Luke.
Plot twist.
You just blew my mind.
On topic though, TIG seems kind of like a tabloid. Not enough information is being provided.
That is a pretty big loss for SLayerS! If anyone has his information send it to me, i'll form a foreign team around him. I'd sell my kidney for the start up cash
This makes kind of no sense. Although MMA has been kinda bad-ish recently, he's still not 'B teamer' material. He did just win Iron Squid like 3 months ago.
I think there is stuff we don't know going on here.
EDIT: Oh, MMA was being naughty? Teehee.
Still really quite shocking though. He must have done something really bad to have this happen. He's one of the team's most important and iconic players.

Maybe MMA brought up about joining a foreigner team to Boxer n Jessica, and then they kinda got upset and thats why they are demoting him, till his contract is up?
Btw if MMA want's to Dwight Howard his way out of SlayerS, he is stupid and should have known that its not going to work. Just sit out your contract and look for the best offer then.

Well, Jessica's gotta be involved somehow. She once said: "Win MLG, or don't come home."
Once MMA won that MLG, she acted like she loved him. Now that his results aren't so good, maybe she's plying BoxeR to get rid of MMA.
You are making it sound like a terrible soap lol. The fact is that MMA has been slumping bigtime lately. His fall from the spotlight might have affected him mentally since he's not the star of esports anymore. TSL players are sent out internationally out of Lee's pockets (at least thats the way its been). From the sounds of it, the TSL-Millennium partnership is more/less a training partnership similar to oGs-TL or SlayerS-EG.

So, when DRG changed his twitter name to EGDongRaeGu he joined EG? Obviously this is a different situation, but nothing is 100% conclusive. It does say that MMA and CranK are clearly unhappy about something and most likely trying to/looking to leave the team ATM. However, like the article said, at least in MMA's case, there are contractual obligations and he can't just leave.

My context was that Alicia was doing well some time last year, he was hyped as Protoss savior, and the he disappeared from the GSL altogether for like half a year or more, with no results. That would have warranted a kick from A team had MMA been kicked out for results.

I'm very curious as to what he did. If it was bad, MMA would've taken it on the chin and accepted it without creating all this fuss. I also don't see BoxeR disciplining his team's biggest star for a petty reason. I wonder if MMA's been wanting to leave SlayerS for awhile (for some foreign cash), and is using this to try and extricate himself.

You forgot the part where Nestea reveals that dark matter is made out of his farts
Damn, so 84% of total matter is made of nestea's flatulence! We must be honored to breathe and live by nestea's flatulence..

TSL needs another terran and good protoss :D
Coach Lee is the last person who wants a diva with disciplinary issues on his team.
I think that Coach Lee wouldn't be accepting MMA so easily, knowing that he is capable of going aLive-mode on him. Maybe he would keep him on a life-binding contract with TSL, so Polt could finally get a good Terran on TSL.
Shrug. He probably did something disciplinary wise that upset boxer and jessica. I dont think relationships in the house were very tense looking at the recent gstl with fnatic. Ryung even said MMA and him were considered to be sent out last against MMA but he didnt feel too well.
Sad news if it really goes through. I was waiting for MMA's resurgence into GSL code S. sigh....

That was hilarious haha, one of the funnier posts I've seen this year. Anyways, I don't think MMA is being demoted because his play sucks or something. He is still in code A ro32 so he still has a decent shot of getting into code S next season, or at worse, stays in code A. I think he either started a fight with one of the players or pissed off Jessica.
MMA is just throwing a huge fit, trying to get some media attention. Nothing much, he's just trying to go back into the A team without boxer's punishments or anything. nothing to big, move along kids.
It just seems embarrassing for both the team and MMA for there to be news like this. If you have internal problems, deal with it, reach a conclusion, and release a joint statement. This is just needless drama, which I suspect is what they're going for anyway.
I do wonder what goes in the mind of EG players like Thorzain who's staying there specifically to practice with MMA-caliber players. They still have other good players I suppose, but its a shame.
SK.MMA ... ... ... on a more serious note I hope this problem gets solved without MMA and Crank leaving SlayerS. At the moment MMA behaves like a rebellious child imo. Hope he will snap out of it.
With just this side of the story, it looks really bad imo. If a star player gets benched in any sports league and they demand a trade, it looks bad on the player, not the coach/team. You have to accept the team's decision to do what's best, and even if they are wrong, not act like a baby.

Drama causing an implosion is sad but maybe it'll be for the best. There are just way too many teams right now for there to be enough money to support. There are going to be mergers and teams are going to die until we end up with maybe half the teams currently around, but the new bigger teams will be better funded.
As long as there are esports, boxer's name will always be highly regarded.

MMA was being a bad boy and getting in trouble disciplinary wise. This has nothing to do with his play. Boxer punished him by sending him down to the B team. (He did NOT get kicked out of the Slayers house) MMA thinks this is unfair and wants to leave to a foreign team, but he cannot unless he gets permission from Slayers due to his contract. Slayers is not going to tell us why he got punished or what he did wrong.
Please somebody edit this into the intro so people stop the rampant misinformation now.
no, the article does not say that specifically, slideSC2 took some liberties there in interpertation

Seriously, give me a break. Boxer's name isn't tarnished because his skills have waned a bit, and SlayerS has so much more than that. MMA hasn't been relevant this whole season of GSTL, has he even won a match? Coca/Puzzle/Alicia/Crank/Ryung, the team is looking fantastic with MMA or without (don't get me wrong, I am a huge MMA fan and don't want him to leave).
SlayerS has always been one of my favorite teams to watch. I hope the issue is resolved quickly. MMA has always been one of the most consistent Starcraft 2 players.

Wow...this was not expected. If this were true, I wonder what the exact reasoning is. I mean, yeah, he has been under-performing, but so have all of the Slayers team, not to mention the Terrans. If this is true, I have to believe that there is more to it...
