I was wondering, on average, how many people are playing SC2 concurrently worldwide? Or if that is too difficult a question, how many minimum and maximum players are logged onto SC2 in any given week at a point in time across all servers?
Thanks.

I'm not sure about the total with the team games and with the custom games unfortunately.

I mean, i remember sc2ranks had some kind of trouble at some point, it would have like 90 % random players in gm plus 100% in the other three races ..

People who use this as some measurement of where sc2 is heading should rather look at the change of viewers for live events. That's a much more interesting statistic.

Basedon Recent tournaments, it seems to have been growing, though I'm basing this mostly on IPL4 vs MLG Winter vs MLG Providence, etc.

The truth is the opposite; most of the players who quit playing are or were less interested/invested in Starcraft, and so mostly in the lower leagues like bronze and silver. As players disappear from bronze and silver, players from gold and plat get demoted to balance out the ranks.

I took a couple months off from playing SC2. Mostly because of school. I also started playing more casual games such as NFS World and SSF4 AE with friends online(I'm the only one out of my friends that still plays sc2). As a result I went from Masters to Gold. T_T. God I suck now. And I really don't have the motivation to get back into the swing of things before HOTS.

Its much easier to play the game when there is no ladder fear, Naah, the kind of people who would quit because of their ranking quit just because they don´t like to lose. I expect it will help but it won´t be the fix for that.
