Just who are the sponsors? Razer? lol... Theyre a company that makes gaming peripherals. They want to sponsor gaming - if they aren't sponsoring Quantic they would have moved onto a different organisation, or a different game altogether.
If you want the sc2 community to be sponsored, it's SO EASY.
Keep things clean - i'm sure razer would love to have sponsored Destiny if his behaviour was consistently like in the JIMMMMYY NOOO clip.

There's so much hypocrisy within this community, it's frightening. If these trends continue, you'll cease to see growth. Destiny has expressed time and time again, like a normal human being, that he speaks his mind. He doesn't hide behind social norms and feels free to express his opinion on HIS stream, regardless of how controversial it might be. If you're easily offended, don't watch. No one is forcing you. I understand the mentality that with Quantic, he's not only representing the team, but all names and sponsors affiliated with it. However, Quantic surely knew enough about Destiny to determine whether or not the risk/reward with Destiny was worth it. As an open minded individual who completely dismisses the idea of "being offended," it's disappointing that people felt the need to push this far to punish someone for using their ability to express themselves. I'll continue supporting and watching Destiny, not because of how he plays or what he plays, but because of the person he is.

He uses a racial slur on his stream that thousands of people are watching, a thread is made, he comes into the thread saying he would rather keep using those kinds of terms instead of issuing an apology and shows no interest in changing. No one is asking for Destiny to stop saying anything, no one is asking him to be a completely different person, however this whole situation is easily avoided, if people just stop using those words. That's it. It's really not that complicated. Don't call someone a racial slur, don't get this shit fest. Works 100% of the time. Destiny isn't the chicken. He's part of the group of eggs that are everyone in the community of gamers in our generation. I think what amuses me most about these situations is when people start trying to make comparisons between different words and people that use them.
I didnt email Quantic or Razer. I've just don't watch Destiny's stream. Honestly, in what realm is it acceptable for Destiny to act this way? In the United States, no where, except movies or stand-up comedy, in which people are just acting a character, but Destiny has always defended this as who he is. I would like to remind everyone what kick-started the racial slur riots on TL. The Crossfire sexual harassment incident, in which, instead of arguing language, the slurs were defended as just being a part of what the community is and does. Here's the deal, I never want it to ever get to that point. That someone finally picks up and leaves because they're uncomfortable with something that they should be uncomfortable about.
To everyone blaming every kid that emailed Quantic or Razer, what Destiny did hurts his team and eSports more than it does benefit it. You think TL defeatured him because they have a certain moral code they want to uphold? No. It's because they're drawing their visitors to something that can make them look bad. Some look at it as the individual player streams and the players being responsible of the content on those stream. Liquid looks at it as that any content featured on their site reflects on them. The teams look at streams as reflective of them. It's why their logos are plastered every single one of them.
The stream was at one point, property of the player, when they werent as connected to a team or when they werent streaming on TL. But when your battle.net tag sports your team name or your stream has a logo on it or you just mention your team on stream, you are tying that representation to them.
I'm not even of a minority that the racial slurs used refer to, but I can say that it still bothers me. Racism is still huge. It's affected many parts of my own life and no one ever had to use these special words to put it on me. I can't support anyone who glorifies any part of racist culture, even if they, themselves are not racist.

I'm only sad that we still have the veil of anonymity here, so twenty years from now when the people who are supporting Destiny "because of the person he is" want to have their opinions heard on relevant issues, I can point to this archive and explain where these opinions originate.

Literally the only thing about that post was even remotely correct was that Razer is a company that makes peripherals.
However, they sponsor multiple teams. They do not currently make a profit off of their sponsorships. They are sponsoring based on perceived future ROI, the notion that SC2 will grow instead of shrink, and that they will always be held in a positive light for their sponsorships, and never a negative one. When you tell them, "I will buy a Razer product because you sponsor Quantic!" that helps a little. When you tell them "I will never buy a Razer product because of Quantic," that hurts a lot.
They don't need to sponsor esports. If you think they do, you're way off base.

I thought it was obvious that people address people they are friends with differently to random strangers. Hasu or Stephano have not complained about the content of this chat. The telling issue is whether Hasu was offended. You can ask him if you like. You can ask Stephano if he was offended by Hasu. It was friendly banter based on an existing relationship with previously established levels of banter. Stephano also has a weird banter with JYP where he calls him big-head. Friends can have private in-jokes. That is very different from insulting strangers. Do I really need to explain that?

You are kids, not we. We defend Destiny because we know that making Destiny stop using racial slurs won't purge racism from the world. The only way to ultimately get rid of racism is to accept the fact that by cencoring words, you are encouraging its power.
You are kids, because you do not understand that we're not white knights on horses whose purpose is to save the world from evil. We're an online community for a videogame, not an online forum for politics. Stop pretending you can make an impact on the world, because you cannot. By having a player from this community punished you are not contributing towards your so-called "goal" of purging racism. You are harming the community.

It's absolutely true that what Destiny was doing hurts esports. But saying that Destiny hurt esports does not make it acceptable to turn around and do something which similarly hurts esports like emailing the sponsor. Email the team. The team isn't going to reconsider its investment in esports. The sponsor might.
